let me tell you a story.....
About three weeks ago, my mate and i went out shopping for a set of mags, we rolled down to the local mag wheel joint and walked around for a while. I spotted a set of mags and decided these were the ones that i wanted. My mate did the same thing but asked the guy that was serving us if they had them in a different colour ( apparently ROH FURY 19inchs don't come out in silver anymore). The guy then explained how for $200 he could get the mags painted in the prefered colour, it sounded like a good idea so my mate went for it. I had my mags fitted that day, but my mate had to wait for a week while his mags were painted. Fair deal. So next saturday morning we drop his car down and the tyre joint fits his mags, we go for a cruise. Later that day we are standing back admiring his car when i notice the centre cap on the drivers front mag isn't seated properly and there is a big chip of paint missing, a closer inspection of the other mags shows one other with the same problem, and chip marks in the spoke from fittment. Now i know he should have inspected the mags when he had them fitted but we were too excited and wanted to hit the road. So monday afternoon my mate heads down to the tyre joint and shows them the damage. no worries is the reply we will fix them and throw in a free wheel alignment. So tuesday comes and he heads back down to the tyre joint to have the mags removed and his origional mags fitted. He was told they would be ready by sat morning!! Sat morning comes and my mate rings to see if the mags are there.... yeah yeah is the reply come down about 2pm and we will fit them. 2pm arrives and we head down. NO MAGS....... they are not dry we are told and won't be ready till Wedensday!!!! My mate goes off!!! wedensday morning comes and again he heads down there, eventually the mags are fitted and then he is told he won't be getting a free wheel alignment, he tells them that the car pulls to one side and it needs it, a test drive is done and its proven the car pulls to the left. Wheel alignment done. Salesman(origional one) tells my mate he is a pain in the ***. my mate tells him hes a ****wit and leaves. My mate arrives at work and inspects the mags. The mags are found to have the paint run down some of the spokes and scratchs from where they have appeared to have been dropped. My mate is heading back tomorrow.... now...... should he be asking for his money back and go else where? keep going till they get it right? ask for a discount because of the lousy service? ring consumer affairs? : p.s sorry for the long post!!!!!!

Also just a quick side note: same place told me that my booking for sat for having my car lowered they would need the car all day sat for 8 hrs as the mechanic arm was broken and he would be guiding the TA throught the job... when asked if he was serious he said yeah we do it all the time..... my reply: not to my car mate. Drove my car to thomastown (same company) and had car lowered and wheel alignment in 2 and a bit hours!!!

My advice would be first to never go there again and second tell your mate to try to get a refund (doubt it) or keep trying to get them right, you never know and as they say third time lucky.

take photos and copy your reciepts incase you need to take it up with the proper people
no one should have to pay crap loads or lose time because some incompetent idiot cant do his job..... id go in there demanding a refund or they fix it correctly for no extra charge, if its buggered when u get them, threaten with consumer afairs and a current affair...that sort of publicity isnt good for any business...he'll listen then

One thing your mate should do in the future is to inspect things before he pays for them or leaves the shop. I noticed both times he had left the shop unaware of what he was later going to complain about.
And if i was him i would get a quote from someone else to do the job and slap that quote on their desk and demand them to pay for it. DONT ask them to fix it again as your mate knows their painting jobs SUCK. Take that quote to small claims court if they dont pay, he is guarunteed to win if everything has happened like you said it has And regarding lowering the suspension, they are a bunch of idiots for telling you the mechanic had a broken arm in the first place, as they are not obliged to tell you anything. Basically your supposed to drop your car off in the morning and theyve got all day to work on it which is fair enough cause it can get busy in workshops. Then you pick up at the end of the day, you hand over the money and everyones happy. But like i said they are stupid for telling you, you would be suprised how many apprentices have probably worked on your car.
