That is amazing, what a piece of art. Look at those inlets and cooling pipes let alone the exhaust.

Nice engine! It's amazing to see it go from blueprints to production in less than a year. It would be interesting to see it in a car, even more interesting to see it with some decent cubes!

Some huge CAD and tech know-how there, imagine the work it took to design every component. It would be interesting watching the CNC's making the block from a huge chunk of aluminium

What a retard - trying to mate 3 x 3cyl engines(the most dynamically unbalaned engines) If he went for 3 x 4cyl engines it would probably have cost less due to the time spent trying to balance the thing.

Still amazing he got it to work, show he has some skill.

making 500+hp from something that was designed from scratch with nothing that you could have even looked upon for guidance, thats good. and to make it rev to 11k, thats gold. Top work by the people who built it, dont care what anyone says

VW use their 3 cylinder engines in a lot of applications – two banks of 3 = V6 and 4 banks of 3 = W12. They seem to be a bit restricted in their inlet/exhaust manifolds to make it all fit. They have very narrow angles between the banks.

They also claim that the engines are very compact. i.e. a W12’s width is comparable to a 90 degree V layout and for some reason the height isn’t that bad either.

I'm not sure how 3 x 4 cyls would go with balance either. You'd have two opposing 4's which cancel each others secondary shaking force out but would then introduce a seconday shaking force by virtue of the 3rd 4 in the W. I'm fairly sure it's the secondary shaking force that is out with 4's anyway - been ages since I've done the analysis.

rebuilding the zh fairlane with a clevo 400m 4v heads injected whipple blown with aode 4 speed trans to a 9" ....... we'll get there eventually

just remember don't be afraid to try something new.
