Yep I took the beast up to Heathcote today with a mate from work, to find out what sort of times the old girl is capable of in 100% stock form.
Obviously it wasn't going to set the world on fire but I managed a best ET of 15.8406 @ 85.99 mph with a 2.28 60 ft. Temperature was 31.8 deg so conditions weren't ideal for dragging. Overall it was a pretty good day with some nice cars, although I was the only person dragging a late model Ford except for a BA XR8 ute. Bring on cooler weather and some mods :evil_laug Should see some low 15s by the end of the year Ash |

Nice one Ash! That's a pretty respectable time for a stock auto 5.0L Ghia!

nice work there mate. With some cooler weather mid 15's should be the go stock which is good for a stock 5.0. Aaron ran 15.4's with cat back and 70mm maf, so your car seems to be right on the money!

Let me have a little play with it and see what we can get it done to without spending an absolute fortune. There are lots of proven mods that will help you get the beast running a bit harder.

Well done Ash, it's actually the best time I've seen from a stock auto 5.0.
May I ask what the VS did by comparison? |

Thanks for the replies everyone
Trouty: The VS managed a best of 16.03 @85.2 with extractors, 2.5" exhaust and CAI in 7.7deg temp : John: I stalled it up a little. If I gave it too much it started wheel spinning before I even left the line. I found the grip to be pretty good from the stock Ghia rims with 215/60 Bridgestone G'Grids Stevo: Yep I guess yours would have to run similar times to mine. Are you going to the Heathcote meet in April? Ash |

Well done Ash, ya couldn't be more happier with that.
Time to take my wheelbarrow down the 1/4 and see what I can manage I think.

Wow, honestly I would have thought the VS would be quicker. I'm very very happy to be proven wrong.

truth is he deliberatly drove the VS slower down the quarter so the EL's time would look better

haha, i know how hard Ash was trying for a 15 in the VS and it just didn't happen. It revs good but it's got no torque (the VS).

I don't think a Ghia 6 would beat the Ghia 8 :P
last time i was at the drags, there was a EL Ghia I6 running 16.1 (same as me) on the same night as ash's VS was running 16 flat. if his V8 can do 15.8 on a hotter day, the 6 isnt gunna have a chance :P
