The XH Falcon utes had a manual and bench seat. Bloody rare as hens teeth if you can find one.
Here is an example. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d.../?Cr=1&sdmvc=1

GMH certainly did, 3spd column shift was the standard configuration for 6cyl or V8 utes from the 50/2016 (1950) through to WB (1985) except for 307/308 which were always floor shift 4spd manual. I can't imagine why Ford would be any different, probably up into XF as started already. When I bought a new VS Holden ute around Xmas 2000 you could only get a console shift 5spd manual with buckets, the only column shift with bench seat was a column auto and only on the base Holden ute (not on S pack). I looked at new FG utes recently and you could get a 3rd seat option but only with column auto as well.

Yeah I've found a few of the early x series ones for sale but no xg or xh's, yeah there's a decent amount of vs commo's with bench seat and manual trans going around that's for sure

Haha i have never tried to take off in 3rd gear in a column manual 3 speed xf... the 3 speed manual used to rev their ring off on the freeway.

I know you couldn't get it in VSIII as I looked at base model manuals when I got my S and it was buckets only. But VS was probably the longest running Holden series (4/95 to 12/00) so it may have been in early ones whilst they still used a T5 (later were Getrag).

I don't think Holden ever had a 4 or 5 speed manual column shift.
Only 3 speed manual column. When was the last manual 3 speed in a Holden, or a Falcon? |

A very crappy photo but this is the way Holden did a bench seat with the 4 speed option in the HQ to HZ series Utes.
The picture shows the shifter in the 1st gear position. When in 2nd or 4th gear the shifter knob would lay about 6 inches across the front of the seat and heaven help the centre passenger if there was ever a need for an emergency stop. |

I think they did, thinking the Rodeo had a 4sp column shift as did most jap utes in the earlier years.

That isn't a Holden though, it is a Rodeo sold by GMH. Holden was 48/215 through to WB. There was probably some column shift Bedford or Isuzu trucks too which were also sold by GMH.

My XF column 3 speeder was a great old ute. Had the sunvisor and all, and it was bloody reliable. I only sold the old girl because of rust.....

XG Outbacks introduced the option of a 3rd dickie seat with the 5sp, that carried over to XH's. For the XH series 2 it was available for the normal Longreach GLi and possibly S too.
