Just wanted to ask an opinion here. I have a mate who owns a fg xr6 mk1 with the 6spd xf auto that has been flash tuned. I own a ba xr6 mk1 with a 5spd manual with a hi flow cat, pacemaker extractors and sports exhaust. My mate reckons that he could beat me easily in a straight line drag race and wont even credit me with the fact I could hold him. Honest opinions if you had equally skilled drivers what car would win and by how much.
cheers. |

You should have better top end power than him.
the zf real benefit is with the turbo as it keeos the turbo spooled up between changes. Not as much benefit n/a i say its game on, if you can get away reasonably quick and change up well he might be surprised. With your breathing mods you should have him for power. His advantage might be gearing and quicker changes. Too close to call |

The FG will win. No contest. FGs are a lot quicker than BAs, your modifications won't matter and the fact that his is tuned doesn't help your chances either. Plus, all he has to do is squeeze the throttle- the ZF will get it off the line quicker than you and change gears quicker than you.

Fg will be the winner even if you can change gears like a pro racer in the BA.

Take out your spare tire and chuck a block of ice in your airbox, could gain you a few kws. Seriously thou his FG will probably win especially since it's tuned too but you can only try and see how you go.
I have a stock as a rock 2004 XR6 BA and vs my sister inlaws 2008 SV6 Sportswagon, thought I'd get smoked but won twice it made it so much sweeter that she traded her XR6 BA in for it. So just try and you'll never know what'll happen |

I think there wouldn't be much in it. from what I have been told you don't gain heaps from flash tunning the N/A 6 alone. your mods should help you keep up but I think he might just beat you as the ZF will change up quicker then anyone driving a manual. you never know thou. you might get a better launch of the mark?? I say take them to the dragstrip and see what happens. good luck!!!

I've heard some people claim the T5 is the slowest transmission on the DOHC cars. You might get lucky though. There's no question the ZF is the quickest however. Stock BF-FG ZF's have done 14.4-14.5.

If you look at the history of timeslips most of the BA with cold air intake, 82 degrees thermostat, full exhaust system still only manage 15.3 PB.
This guy only has a full exhaust system, stock trim vs stock trim the FG will smash him by 8 to 10 car lengths. The most average driver in the FG will smash the best driver in the BA. |

i had a ba xt, the one in my sig, with exhaust, tune, cai etc and can easily say that my "new" zf xr6 is a lot quicker off the mark. no contest really.

No chance you would have against a fg with zf 6speed auto the 5 speed is a lot slower threw the gears
