Default 2007 ford focus

hi i have a 2007 ford focus and the waterpump failed and lost all coolant . do these have a low coolant engine shut down , i havent replaced but will not start now dry
?

It probably has some sort of engine protection going on but not %100 .
Is it throwing a code ?
