Default Debadged I know who did it.

I arrived back at the Murdoch Park and Ride around 6 pm Friday and caught I someone acting suspiciously around the front of my NC Fairlane. I got the guy's rego and car details (a burgundy ED he had parked next to my car - not the car I parked next to that morning either) but as I couldn't see anything wrong with my car in the dark and I'm no ,longer a confrontational type I didn't do anything then. There was also a Transperth flyer under my windscreen so I thought perhaps that what he was doing.

But today I noticed the 5 Litre V8 badge from where I saw him was missing and there were minor scratched where he had obviously levered the badge off. Replacements from ebay are $44 after shipping.

I guess the police won't be interested given the low value involved so what should I do if anything? The offender looked in his 30's and much fitter than me (I'm a 59 year old with amongst other things 8 collapsed coronary ateries so a confrontation is no more inviting now than it was last Friday). Perhaps I should just remove the rest of the badges so he can't take them too.

It's still a criminal offence.

The cops should act.

Otherwise you can ring a mercantile agent, get his address and ..

What you shouldn't do is follow him in a mates car and as he whips into the shopping centre....

The guy is a cretin, a complete insect. Ftw!

Although as he left half the rubber adhesive backing on the car a match might be possible if it was found in his possession. I do sometimes travel to work with a police officer so if the opportunity arrises where the 3 of us are in the same place at the same time I will make my accusation and see what repsonse I get.

Find his car and write thief across his bonnet with your key, that way
You will feel better no confrontation no fights and he will think twice
Next time about stealing what people work hard to get and are proud of.

Go down to cop shop and make a statement.

They can ask the questions.

If they don't, plan b.

If someone jinked a guys badge around here and was caught the theif would be lucky not to get stabbed.

Cops could not be bothered chasing up this sort of thing, hell they usually can't even be bothered if your car is stolen.

Be careful of bad kharma, lots of cameras in public parking areas

You could ask the landowner for cctv footage if it was there and active

Proof would be in video

So he was acting suspiciously - according to you.
That doesnt mean he did it.
You didnt see he did it, so maybe it wasnt him at all and it was someone else before he arrived.
Cant go accusing people if you arent 100% and didnt even see him doing anything.

Ridiculous isnt it. Im sure the 5L badges were probably worn anyway.

I used to own a eb v8 which i debadged to replace with shiny new 5l badges. I still have the old badges.

If you pay the postage ill send you one for free. Not brand new but ok condition.

But wht you should do if he likes badges, use araldite and grab a random set of badges and put one on every panel on his car. He will get them off but the paint will go with it.

A mate if mine parked his car in kings cross and no lie he returned to his car to find an autobarn bonnet scoop super glued on his hood. I asked him what did he do to someone to deserve that.

He was definitely kneeling down near the front of my car and raised my suspicions that I checked he hadn't nicked the centre caps off the mags I didn't think of the badges.

I actually think he thought I had seen him do it as he looked at me as though he expected me to say or do something (almost daring me to) and just stood there while I put my backpack in my car and checked my car.

Not really I replaced them with new ones from Ford about a year ago when someone else nicked them. I have ordered a new set too (the ebay ones) already.

I'm over it now; just annoyed with myself that I didn't realise what he had done. Thought even if I had caught him more red handed I don't know what good it would have done; I might just have come off second best in some sort of violent confrontation.

Unfortunately there is bugger all you or the cops can do.....If they don't have any video proof, or witnesses, guaranteed the suspicious looking person would deny any wrong doing and walk away scott free.

It sucks, but so do alot of other things...

Red face Re: Debadged I know who did it.

This badge guy probably spends his loser life sliming around car parks so he can debadged.

He must be stopped.

Sounds to me like our man clearly saw him do it.

So press ahead and make that statement.

It could be our own cars next.

He must be duly gearboxed, condom or not!

I hate thieves as much as anyone else but you seem to be a bit....over enthusiastic about this particular incident.
Also what did your comment above mean about the mechanic losing a ticket?
Aussieblue, I suggest keeping your eyes peeled from now on. Whilst this sort of thing shouldn't happen the sad truth is that it does happen and people get away with it all the time.
