Thumbs up Shane Warne - All Time Great

Congrats to Shane Warne....finishing his career off with the 700 test wickets.

Couldn't have got them on a greater ground than the MCG! Haha

Well done mate

Default Warney Gets 700th!

Congratulations on your 700th test wicket!

Beautiful ball, bowled the batsman, beating him with the flight of the ball, hitting middle stump!

What a way to do it!

Pure warney that ball, what a champion. And to take out an opening batsman must make it so much sweeter.

I started the other thread. Sorry, didn't realise this one was already going. Perhaps a mod could merge the other posts into this thread.

So because there is a fire we should stop the cricket, do you really think that the fireys would want that? Of course not, a fair few will be listening to the coverage. By the way, nice first post...moron.

EDIT: Also whilst on school holidays could you please take some remedial english classes, your grammar and sentence structuring leave a lot to be desired.

Was a pretty good ball. I wonder if they will let him keep the ball after the match.

What a sensational ball it was too! Great to see and the game will be poorer for his departure.

As for the knockers who feel the need to come in here and make fools of themselves, I'm sorry but you'll have to speak up - you've been comprehensively drowned out by all the real supporters!

Thats fine by me, its a forum and I'll contribute, even if it's not what people want to hear. Fact remains that he is still a drug cheat and was banned for a year from the game, not so long ago - funny how people forget that.

I wish people would give McGrath the praise he deserves, instead of Warne geting all the attention. :

So you quoted me and that was your reason. He took the drugs to improve his cricket game, not his social game. Thus the one year ban. I too believe his social life shouldn't be of any public concern.

He didn't take the drugs to improve his Play Station skills!

Warnie as a bowler is bloody brilliant.

Warnie as a man is a waste of space.

I believe he also holds the record of having more 6's hit off him than any other bowler. (heard from an ABC commentator so I stand to be corrected)

I was congratulating Warne on his cricket career, not the choices he's made in his social life.

Yeh, he cheated....but he was punished!

All in all Warne is a great bowler, someone Australia would forever want in their test cricket side...

SPIN KING!

Warnie is a legend. For good or bad, he will go down in history as one of the most spectacular and successful bowlers. There certainly is no one out there like him, thats for sure. And I agree, cricket will be poorer for the loss of him. Like or hate him, you have to admit he has brought a lot to cricket and that he is certainly a character of the game.

On a non sport level, I think he has been an idiot but then he has copped a fair share back his way and paid his price. I dont think the tall poppy cutters who like to focus on these issues should forget that a) he did not really get away with anything and b) that it did not affect his skill - which is what we are talking about in this thread (correct me if Im wrong, but that IS what the thread is about isnt it?).

McGrath is also hugely worthy of praise as well, without a doubt. He has faced adversity in his private life with diginity and also brought so much to the game - but there will be a thread on that too, Im sure. So we will comment then. He just didnt happen to get his 700th wicket today, thats all. When and if he does pass another milestone, then there will be a thread on it.

Same goes for the firefighters - there has been a lot said about them too, and rightly so. I dont think it is fair for anyone to say that just because we would like to discuss Warnie's 700th wicket, that it automatically means that we dont care about the firefighters or any other person who deserves praise, sympathy or recognition!

So GOOD ON YA WARNIE! And all the other people out there who deserve some praise too!

Warnie will be known as one of the greatest spin bowlers in modern cricket history, and his record will stand for an extraordinary amount of time. I always love watching the replay of him bowling the 'leg break' to Gatting and seeing the look on Gattings face.

As far as his off pitch antics are concerned, he's an idiot, but so are many other none famous people who do the same things he has done.

I will remember his legacy as the best spinner ever.
