Inspired by the thread:Whats your occupation?, i thought to start a new one where everyone can post an available job or post if he/she needs a new one ...
For myself, I need a new one ... I am looking for a job as project manager, project supervisor, project lead or project assistant. I have nearly 4 years experience in that field and am just about to complete my Diploma in Project Management. I am not looking for a a specific industry, however most projects so far were IT based, as I also have a Bachelor Degree in Information Technology (Industry Professional) and have over 6 years of experience in the IT industry. I have also managed two public events over the years. I am looking at moving to Sydney, Brisbane (or surrounding coasts), Newcastle or Adelaide (wherever a job may be available). Cheers Mic

maybe a specification about what you are looking for and where your skill sets are might make it easier ;)

I'm not looking for a new job, but I'd take one if someone offered me better pay than I'm getting.
I'm only 20 so I've got plenty of years left of doing the hard stuff. Am currently doing furniture removals and have been for the past 14 months. Before that I was working for a waste management company running up and down streets from 5am every morning doing the hard rubbish collection. I did that for six months until the company shut down for their two month Christmas break. Yeah, that does sound nice, but they only employ people as casuals so you either find somewhere else to work for two months, or disappear completely. That was when I started the furniture removals. I worked as a plumbers labourer for two and a half years before that. Was supposed to be an apprentice, but we won't speak of what happened there. I'm young. I love hard, physical work. (My old man was a bricklayer for many years and I wanna be doing something physical so he can't question my go. It's more a pride thing than anything else.) Being outdoors is a bonus, but anything in a factory/warehouse or whatever is good. Am currently pulling $18 an hour, so if I could find something paying more than that, I'd probably look into it. I have a year 11 pass at school so I'm not a complete dunce, but I like the idea of doing something without having to give it too much thought. I take great pride in my work and haven't had many people question my efforts or capabilities. Also, I can work with pretty much anyone. I've worked with many dickheads before and never had any dramas caused over it. I've also done some labouring for a couple of concreters and as a farm hand when I was living up bush with my old man. Like I said, I'm not looking for work, but I figure I'd put all this down just to see what pops up. Saturday work is always a bonus too. EDIT: I'm also incredibly attractive. If that helps at all. :

I've been after a job for ages now.
I'm 20 and only had 1 job (Trolley pusher lol) so I dont have much experience. My problem is I lack communications skills quite a far bit so I stress about applying over the phone as I get nervy and start to sweat. ATM im doing a Literacy and Numeracy course, its the 3rd course ive taken in 12 months so im pretty happy about re-capturing my Literacy and Numeracy skills I lacked so much in High School, thats why my year 10 is pretty bad. |

I'm 22 and some advice for blokes around my age looking for better dollars: Trust me they are there to be had. There are tons of jobs that are $20+p/h but if you're not qualified with a degree or something (which I'm not) then you are gonna have to work absolutely Cr@p hours to get it. A good one is fork lift driving. I've got my ticket, last time I was in a warehouse forking it was 20p/h but the shifts can get higgledy piggledy you know. Otherwise sit in a call centre. You'll resent ever getting a phone call after a while (that's my problem now) but while it's fresh the dollars are awesome, sonditions more often than not are ENTIRELY reasonable and if you're lucky there's an espresso machine. But for bigger dollars than that you need to have some qualifications see.

Damn Woz I gotta say your one commited guy. I wish I had the commitment you have!
I just left my old job 3 weeks ago and been job hunting (didn't enjoy my last line of work... lending@ge money). I applied for a fair few jobs on seek but nothing really came up I was interested in doing. Luckly the lady called me as one job I applied for went through a HR agency and said we dont think this job suits you but we have another job we are about to put up that I think would suit you. I applied and ended up as a stockbroker in brisbane in the highest building in brisbane on the very top floor. Luckly only out of work for 1 month and only job searched for 3 days. I ended up going through the Turner group in Brisbane they where very helpful. I find with jobs you have to have customer service experience even if its not in the job... I guess just for good communication and problem solving skills. Also I had a diploma and degree and only starting out in a junior role so it can be tuff those big $$ jobs don't come easy like the lead you to beleive at uni.

There are also your local state services...its a great job with great rewards.

I had pretty much the same work (except stress pure). I was a training manager for my company on top of that. I would recommend MCSE, MCT or similar instead of CompTia A+ or similar. Those certs will get you further. Also CompTia Project Management no longer existed, hence I am doing Diploma in Project Management at TAFE: http://www.tafe.qld.gov.au/dds/searc...ins_spec=false Hope that helps :hihi:

I know my wife is looking, if anyone is in South East Queensland, she is looking for work as either a Legal Secretary (or any administration type role in a Legal firm - she really loves the industry) or work related to roles like a Child Protection Officer or something in Corrections etc (she recently graduated from her Bachelor of Behavourial Science degree - so anything related to that I guess... Don't know to much about the related fields myself).
She's really switched on and very enthusastic and always popular with employers due to her great work ethic and dedication. She's only just started looking for full time work so something will probably come up - but if anyone out there has anything - shoot me a message Thought I might as well throw it up on here, you never know Cheers |

Hi all,
My name is Alex and Im a sexoholic...LOL! Nah Just Joking.. Im 20 in April and Im moving up to brissy and may be looking for some work..anyone know of any going around? I have many kinds of expericence.. At the moment Im in the Refrigiration industry..its a very good industry for someone to get into if they dont know what to do about themselves...you can easily own your own business if you know what your doing and you can sertainly make millions out of it. I have been working for Eastern Homewares in heathmont, Melbourne for 3-6months now..came there not knowing a damn thing about a washing machine or a fridge, now I know them like the back of my hand. Best bit about it is..THERE IS NO QUALIFICATION to be a white goods serviceman..with Airconditioning there is, but not with fridges (domestic anyway) This is a great job, easy going..You fix/detail fridges, washers, dryers, dishwashers, you name it...you answer phones and serve customers (and on lucky days like today you have nothing but HOT CHICKS come in). I find best about the job because you can work at your own pace, its EASY to learn, you get to meet some really cool people (like 2weeks ago I met Mrs. Wade from Wade cams and now I get a HUGE discount on their stock). AND YOU DONT GET DIRTY! Working as a service man you may not get much...might be looking at $1000-$2000 a week...owning your own business (which is REALLY easy to do in this industry) you can become a millionare (my boss made his first milllion by the age of 21) Ive also got plenty of experience with cars...My past jobs have been motor mechanic (which I hardly worked on motors, but anyway), Panel beater and extirior/intirior detailer...I worked with a heap of American Muscle cars and have Owned a couple of my own... I worked for massive company's such as EastCoast Mustangs and Mustang Centeral, but also smaller companies... Working in that industry I also loaded and unloaded containers full of cars and car parts going to or from the USA and I did alot of Quaranteen work (basically CLEAN THE CAR!..LOL!) I also got good experience driving LHS cars on our roads. I also have had experience in a metal industry as a welder and grinder...I didnt stick around long because I would always come home dirty and I didnt like that for the money I was getting, but I have a preety good understanding on how to operate things like Drill presses, bench grinders, dye grinders, welders, angle grinders, air grinders, etc. I also worked as a Panel beater and spray painter of Mustangs and Chevs (along with 1 or 2 EB falcons). I found myself being quite comftable in doing this job, it was only a 2 person warehouse but I didnt have a problem working under pressure. Also had a couple of jobs working for supermarkets and have worked at TriState Computer services for a few weeks (without pay as I just wanted to learn)..Some of the duties of this job was to determine what was wrong with a computer, fix/repair the problem, install operating systems, recover hard drives, and learn/understand how to use programs and make programs with C+. I also learned how to use Command Prompt and Telnet. So anyway, This gives you a rough idea of what my job career's have been...if anyone knows of any jobs in Brisbane please give me a shout on: 0434-2474-59. Also if anyone knows any type of full time work thats going around in Melbourne please give me a buzz...my cousin is 23 and can start work tomorrow...He has many types of experience both working in Warehouses and as a salesman...he also owns his own cleaning bussines and is just looking for some full time work around the Melbourne area. Thanks for reading

OK well Im not to sure here
IS it better to be young and have had a heap of jobs ? OR young and only have 1-3 jobs ? My Question is ... If you are young and had a lot of jobs WHY ? To me when i used to look at potential workers if they had a heap of jobs i ALLways used to ask WHY ? .... Now some of them you could see they were just there to get a name on there dole form ... Others were there becouse they WANTED work ... NOW BOYS i am NOT having a go at ANYBODY at all here It was just a Question that was asked to me by my now boss and i had NO Idea what to say to it Me .. I'm 30 and had 4 jobs in 1 company -- just kept getting promoted untill i moved interstate and then where I am now , so all up only 2 diffrent placers in 12 years To much stuff to list what i have done /do and im Happy I have a 4 day weekend and Half of ALL school holidays off . Not a bad Place to work at all |

trick: that is a very good question
On one hand a young person having a few jobs on short time could mean that he/she has collected a lot of experience in many different companys and know how to deal with it, but the question is then WHY would a person leave a company in such short succession? was he/she not reliable, inconsistent, too high expectations or just incapapble? Or did he/she go through so many jobs just for the sake of experience? If it is the second I could understand why ... On the other hand if a person has been with one company for X amount of years, they might only know one way and the only way and it might be harder to find themselves into new procedures and ways the new company migh have. I personally had one job since i finished Uni (apart from the part time jobs i had during uni), i quit that one after 10 months. i belive that was a reasonable time to gather some experience and find my way into the industry. On one of the interviews I had I was asked why I wanna leave my company after only 10 months, which in the end probably was one of the reasons that cost me the new job. I took the original job as a quick and short term solution, I always knew that I wouldnt last in that position for too overly long (ie years), but I was desperate for a start and money. I was thinking what do people say who have done contract so far (ie 3, 6 or 12 month) and have changed jobs due to that quite regularely. Personally I wouldnt mind taking on time limited contracts, as that would give me the opportunity to move around a fair bit and gatehr a lot of experience that way. Thoughts?

Why?
Because as bad as it sounds I havent really found out what to do with myself in life yet... I dont mind the Refregiration industry, preety easy going..But Ive also been offered jobs for next year managing multi-million dollar companies! A main part of the reason I never stayed at jobs long is either: lack of work (ie: only 2-3-4days per week meaning lack of money), Bad hour rate, and people simply treat me like crap because I am the youngest person in the company and im the newest empliyee meaning they think they can call me 'newbie', give me crap all day long and crack it at me because they have had a bad day. It may not sound like a good reason but heck, its the truth, so If im going to be asked that question I will answer in similarity.

Kuzmin are you talking managing a multi-million dollar company as a CEO if so damn how old are you? iv got a degree in management and they said dont expect a high rise job for along time until your older and have experience. It seems though now days to make the big $$ you gotta specalise in something within an industry that no many people do so your in high demand. If I was you Kuzmin id take the jobs its preety damn rare to be offered anything like that now days!
edit: sorry just noticed your age from other post, now take that job!

I'd only be interested in work within Melbourne. Possibly closer to Bendigo in around the Castlemaine/Kyneton area or within comfortable distance of there as my old man lives in Elphinstone.
The reason I'm now on my third job is actually quite simple. First Job: I was supposed to be a plumbing apprentice. I did that for two and a half years, earning stuff all money, doing dirty, demanding work and really enjoyed it. I was so set on getting that apprenticeship done that I even looked past the fact that a big part of those two and a half years, my wages were a long way from being up to date. When I finally threw it in (far too deep in debt, I couldn't possibly keep going the way I was), I was owed $5700-odd dollars. Just under $6000 behind in wages and I was only 18. So I left, my boss told me I wasn't going to get paid and then fessed up that he had not signed any paperwork, so I wasn't an apprentice. Just a labourer on apprentice wages. That was two years ago now and I'm still owed just under $4000. Wageline are hot on his tail. After that, I moved back to Melbourne and started working as a garbologist doing the hard rubbish collections. That went for about 6 or 7 months and then the company I was working for shut down from early december to late january. Being so far in debt due to my plumbing, I couldn't sit around for all that time and do nothing. So I decided I'd find something to do for a couple of months, then go back to where I was. When the time came for the collections to start up again, I was well enjoying furniture removals and have been doing that ever since. As for the farm work, concreting and a couple of other things, my old man used to own the pub in Elphinstone (a small country town between Castlemaine and Kyneton) so my oldest step brother and I used to do some work for various people in the town over the school holidays. So yeah, I'm twenty and am on my third real job-type-job, but I think I have pretty valid reasons for that. The only time I've been threatened with getting the sack was when I'd make a ***** of myself working at the pub. And I did a couple of weeks detailing cars late last year after I broke my hand. Just before I went back to the furniture job. The doctors told me I needed to do some lighter duties before going back to ease my hand back into the workforce. Constantly pushing down on a polishing cloth put me through more pain than carrying chests of drawers or marble table tops up stairs ever could.
