Hey guys, Im new to the site
This is my 76 MKII Escort. Neva owned one before. What size engine does it have? pistons are new to me :togo: badges say 1.6, papers say 1.3, goes really gay (guessin 1.3) receipts came with the car for alot of engine work, including bore & hone, wagget cam, acl pistons set etc Looked at a mates 79 MKII 2l, and it looks way different. : ------------------------------------------------------------------- what other engines bolt onto the existing mounts? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry for the newbie questions. |

yes it is a 1300, 2 litre was a US pinto engine, not the kent engine like yours is

What is the engine code on the plate? Should be either D or E. As far as I'm aware, the Aussie MKII sedan's/coupe's never had the 1.3ltr.

yeah i didnt think the aussie ones came as 1300's either, so i would guess its a 1600, the 1100, 1300 and 1600 are all the same motor i believe, just different capacities.
please correct me if im wrong |

You can tell easily between a 1100,1300 and the bigger ones.
If the water pump level with the top of the block it is not a 1600. If the block is about an 1" above the water pump it is a 1600. The 1600 has a longer stroke and hence a higher block. |

54Ghia is spot on. The block ht is 1 inch taller in the 1600s.....And the 1300 is about as quick as your average lawn mower. :
