Default Knox ford are down one XR6 courtesy of a test drive

Pulled out on to Ferntree gully rd this morning (for locals from clyde street) and see a lot of people looking around.
I see rubber on the road and a couple of seconds later notice the light pole that made it from the median almost to the service road.

Turns out someone took the XR6 for a test drive and coming out of clyde street gave it a little to much curry and lit them up, fishtailed it, i'm guessing forgot to lift off, and met with the light pole.

Whilst i stopped to help out i forgot to take some pics. :togo:

what are test drive excesses? $2-3k???

Not sure if they will write it off.

I know it's a "test drive" and all, but to get to the point where you think you need to fishtail around a corner or fang the crap out of the car in order to know what it can do is just plain stupidity.

Guy driving was ok female passenger was unhurt but shaken up a bit.

another case of getting one's ambition and capability mixed up happens quite a bit .........would have liked to be a fly on the wall back at the dealership when the news broke.

They wouldn't have been too happy. Last year I got a courtesy car while mine was in for a service. I parked it at the shops, came out and found that someone had decieded to reverse into it. Put a nice size hole in the front bumper... I rang the dealer, told them what happened and they told me to bring the car in straight away. I took it in, they looked at it an as it turns out, the salesman that gave me the key didnt get me to sign the anything saying I was responsible for any damage I didnt have to pay a cent!

I think the added extra thrown in to get the deal over the line, was the extra "lighting" package.
Could have been that other option of the "foglight" package.

Those FG 6 cyl engines have some go in them. I hired an FG G6E in Adelaide a few months back. The throttle was a little touchy. Took me a bit to get used to it.

I didn't know that damage during a test drive, then you are responsible for.

I'm about to test ride some bikes in the next 2 weeks. Might see whether it's the same deal. You break it, you own it.

Bikes are a fairly standard $3k excess and you need to sign the paperwork before they let you take it. A lot of bike places now require a credit card imprint in case you throw it down the road so they can take the money with no argument.
speaking to a few ppl tonight i think knox ford have a $2k excess for test drives, and also confirmed it definately was the potential customer that did the damage.
Vehicle was on an unescorted test drive.

Thanks for that info. Something to consider now when I start testing those bikes. I'll query the salesman on the day I think.

Your ambulance and medical insurance would probably be more close to the front of your mind should the worst happen.

We got a courtesy car from there a few weeks back.
On the paperwork there is a $2000 excess.
Even when the missus bought her Fez we took one for a test and the excess is $2000.

Looks like the dude ain't gonna get his new car unless he can come up with another 2 grand that he just gave Knox Fords insurers.

What a moron.

What a tool, im in my mid 20's and i wouldnt dare do that in anyone elses car for that reason.

Some people have no brains yet may have some money to purchase a car like this and think it gives them the authority to give it heaps.
