JB are clearing their stock of the RC50M at $24 plus P&P, online only. They come with one camera, but have capacity for dual inputs, either as split screen or override.
I’ve found the one I fitted to the Territory (when they were $57 plus post) to be pretty reasonable. It’s withstood hot summers and hasn’t suffered screen issues. They’re not perfect but way cheaper than a bumper or boot repair, and great for backing up to a trailer coupling. |

They definitely have, or had, stock - my purchase of four units arrived at 0830 today. Pleased to score a bargain.
I think new sign-ups to JB get a $10 voucher ATM, this effectively takes off the eastern states delivery cost. |

This is $24 worth. I reckon it’s pretty good.

I’d either go polyurethane adhesive then, or make a low profile bracket of bent sheetmetal, with the base screwed to that. Gave the dash a spot “detox” with brake cleaner to get the Armor-All off my adhesion area.

This is one of those things where you spend $24 on the JB HiFi job, or spend $800 on the ECCO/ESG one from an automotive supplier and get the same quality camera and screen. Its the top end of the market thats a joke in this segment of automotive components, should have 1080P screens and 60 FPS cameras by now at the upper price points but they're still SD screens and crap cameras. |

That was pretty much my point, I went into Jaycar (Hornsby; lovely, helpful and fun staff there) during the week and they had a “best deal ever” on hardwired reverse cam for $188. Dollars to donuts it wasn’t seven times this one in quality of features, output.
The whole in-car tech/screen issue is wonked IMO. I really don’t understand why manufacturers can’t eat a little humble pie, tangoing with both Android and Apple to produce a simple cradle that becomes your “BYO” option. The aftermarket would love it for potential app overlays from serious to frivolous. |

Happened last week, the gummy pad stayed put on my carefully prepped dash but peeled away from the monitor base. Pushed it back home and it’s stayed put since. A little aluminium bracket may be in order.
