Someone want to tell me how it could possibly turn on the spot, unless you could somehow make the wheels turn in different directions.

have another look at the pic... notice the wheels!

would be a bit of a pain getting it serviced though with all of the shit that goes with it.

Yeah I saw the pic, but think about it. To get that to turn on itself (let's say clockwise looking down) you would need all the wheels to rotate counter-clockwise when looking at them from the outside.

In forward gear on a normal car you have the passenger side wheels rotating counter-clockwise, yet the driver's side will rotate clockwise. That car will need a REALLY funky diff set up.

What about simply dis-engaging drive to the certain wheels ?

Yeah I spose that's the easy option, still you'll need some sort of controlable locker diff.

quite an impressive looking jigger - obviously kept some engineers busy for a while designing it!

yeh the diff setup would be interesting for the spinning on the spot feature, and the engine setup would also be mega interesting to check out. Making some serious HP, and 0-100kph in less than 5 sec for a 4WD is equally impressive!

There is no reference to any transmission – it could be electric or hydraulic drive. Those are pretty severe wheel angles for a uni or cv joint.

That's certainly used some lateral thinking!
