Its Australia Day, here's some little known facts about our great land...

1. Aussies buy 41 jars of Vegemite a minute or 22million jars a year. We are happy little Vegemites.!!!
2. We buy 41 boxes of Weet-Bix a minute.
3. We use 551,750 sheets of toilet paper a minute. ie 33,105,000 sheets per hour and 749,520,000 per day.
4. We use 12.93 litres of tomato sauce a minute. ie 2litres per person per year.
5. Greg Norman is our best paid sports person. He earns $28 a minute or $15M a year.
6. 27 Chesty Bond singlets,shorts or thongs are sold every minute.
8. Cadbury Chocolates produces 41kg of milk chocolate a minute.
9. We grow 9.5 Avocado's a minute.
10.We recycle 1811 steel cans a minute.

A little dated

Greg Norman has been overtaken by the likes of Casey Stoner and Mark Weber.

And I suspect since Pacific Brands stopped making clothing in Australia the sale of Chinese made Chesty Bond singlets may have fallen somewhat.
And I think aluminium cans have mostly replaced steel cans.
And I hope our toilet paper usage has increased in line with increases in our population.

4. pollies are getting new perks and pay rises at 5 per minute !

The study found the average Australian worked 1855 hours per year at work. According to Clive Hamilton of The Australia Institute, this surpasses even Japan. The Australia Institute believes that Australians work the highest number of hours in the developed world.
