Anyone know the full specs of the stock 16" au2 steelies?
I'm getting some rims, but unlike 99% of people, I actually care about the load rating _and_ weight of them. I want them to be overall lighter, even though I'm going up 2" to 18's on low profiles. I'm thinking ROH Fury's but again, unable to find specs on these. Thanks |

we had fury's on my mums AU 2 Fairlane Sportsman and we couldnt get them to balance properly. there would be a vibration between 90-110km/h so we got like 3 other sets from ROH (all fury's) and we couldnt get any of them to balance. so we went with another design... i cant remember which...
anyway, that was pointless... |

Tyres: 215/60/16
Rim: 16x6 I think thats about it. Speak to the tyre place, they should know. 235/40/18, should be fine in regards to load rating.

Actually, the load rating of the rims should be OK, it's the tyres that really matter. The tyre must have at least the same load rating as the stock tyre that came on the car. I run Nexens on the wagon, and they have a rating of 97Y, which exceeds the standard rating (which I think is 94 or 96H).
As far as balancing goes, the rims themselves really don't require balancing (unless they have been knocked about), it's really the tyre & rim combo that is being balanced.

Why not stick a rim and tyre (stock) on the scales and see how much they weigh - bathroom scales should do. Then get a tyre shop to weigh an ROH Fury with an 18" tyre and see what that weighs, and then you will have your answer.
I know this is not very helpful, but most people that buy mags, buy them for looks and handling, not weight.

Unless you go for the Enkei or another similiar light race wheel you will not even get close to comparatable weight of a stockie

Try a Territory steelie with rubber ... these are damn heavy ... I might weigh my spare one as a comparison ... hee hee.
I'd say it'd be close to 35kg ... might be more though.
