I slowly filled mine out cause if i did it in one hit i would have gone mental. Filling out a couple of questions then leaving it, then coming back. No head-ache

I did it online and found it very painless. Had i filled out the form i think my head would of imploded with the bordem. I read forums while i did mine, came up with a few ineresting answers too due to the stupid nature of the questions asked.

The missus just filled ours in , I didn’t have to do anything the only question she asked me was how many hours I spent last week on house cleaning and then she disputed my claim of 30 hours plus lol.

Just had a flick through, some of the questions are a bit personal but it’s for the good of the country I spose.

It's a pain, but needs to be done. Info can be used for future government policy, public transport etc.

If it wasn't done, it would be very easy to lose track of the population, where people are living and so on.

[QUOTE=Polyal]whats personal exactly?

My age I’m sensitive :ymca: lol.

Some people may find giving their income / religion / heritage details out invasive but as you said they know all this anyway, and as I said its for the good of the country hopefully it will help in planning future infrastructure for specific areas .

edit: also, how often do we do it? I cant remember doing one before. But I do remember qouting the abs website in high school, so its good for something!

I think the last one was about 5 years ago.

some questions were kinda 'umm...duh' but it didnt worry me.

i was trying to think of a reason i would care if in 99years some idiot decided to wade through the national archives and came across my census information and found out that i am a full time uni student who works 20 hours at kmart, couldnt be ar$ed looking for another job in the last four weeks, has never given birth and who said 'no religion' but really really wanted to put Jedi just for fun....lol

Oh yeah just one question if they don't open it for 99years and its "meant" to be confidential then how will they know if I didn't fill it out which I am yet to do...

I thought the census guy was a bible basher or something I almost slammed the door in his face... :

The 99yr question is do you want them to release (your details) the results in 99 years, they will input your info in the system within a few days not a century.

Otherwise it doesn't really emphasise the 'timeliness' aspect of gathering the info does it lol

Perhaps to corollate (sp?) with the info they have now. Its not always correct.

The shame is that 90% of the people that do it will make a joke out of it.

You are completely paraniod if you think anything bad can come of that form. Is 5 minutes during the adds that much to give up? :

geez, some of you are whingy pricks! ive got two kids as well theyre only applicable to the first half of the questionaire anyway. the census saved me from having to listen to home and away (or whatever was on tv) as well, thats a bonus.. took me longer to put in our address than do the ocmplete booklet.
15 mins every 5 yrs too much for you?

Seriously though, do any of you think a Census will make Australia a better place?

Considering the failed promises from most MP's, like here in Vic, Bracks has broken several pre-election promises for issues that are important right now, I fail to see if this census will improve anything considering how long it takes for the most important things to be fixed, such as hospital waiting lists & other "key" issues that continue unresolved.

I remember the last Census in 2001, sure is alot of things to fill out though, it's just like a tax return of your life.

Glad I stumbled across this thread :

I forgot to fill the thing out... now, to locate where I put it (I know I put it in a safe place)...

If it was such a great thing and info they already know, then why is there a chance you can be fined for not filling it out, or for not filling it out correctly..
I read a part where it states you may be asked to provide the info (after collection and discovery of not filling it out etc) and if you are and do not do so, then you can be fined....

Ok, will go off and hunt for it and fill it all out... thrilling :

I think it's another waist of money like anything else this ****er of a PM does:P

My old man filled it out yesterday. most of his answers consisted of.
.None of you'r buisnes.
and dont now:P

From the great improvement of the last one in 2001 i dont see this one making this country any better but making it easyer for the Tax man and centrelink to screw us over

why dosent johnny spend his time and our money on finding way's of lowering fuel cost and rates and last time i cheaked our school's are still up to Sh|t.

I agree with above, nothing major has changed in Australia since the last census as far as I'm concerned, things have probably got worse if anything, with widespread banning of photography introduction of new laws etc.

The less the GovCo know about our private life the better, it's not like you'd go telling a stranger on the street all your most personal details eh? That's the same as filling out a census form.
