Interesting
Ranger makes up half of Fords Sales, without it they wouldn't be in the top 10 subtract Hilux and Toyota would still be first.

Once again the Focus has not made a margin in the small segment as with the Kuga in the medium SUV range.
Theses a classes that these two should be having an impact on considering the sales of their opposition in said segments. Ford are advertising these aggressively but with no impact. |

Mazda, Suby, VW and Honda on big % increases. In Suby's case it's probably new stock and appealing pricing. Prestige Europeans also up.

My daughter has a Turbo Diesel Auto Focus Sport and it has been brilliant ( touch wood ). I hear of the horror stories but I can only go on how the car has been for us. Faultless.....

My parents had a LW Trend and replaced it with a LW2 Trend a few months ago and both were fine. Ford don't sell because: 1) the dealers are crap 2) the general public associate Ford with crappy outdated Falcons... |

The smell of death surrounding the Falcon is not helping anyone. Look at the brand regeneration mitsi have done since the magna/380 left the party.

The issue with the focus is the auto gearbox. We have one that shudders and lurches and shifts quite violently but according to ford is with in spec. My wife loves the car aside from the gearbox and the way ford have treated us and will now never buy another ford again because of customer service. The problem we now have is finding another car that she likes, we have been through just about every competitor on the market.

I think you will find Ford Australia is the corporate train wreck it is now for the very reason that they do ignore everything on Facebook and everywhere else for that matter.

My wife had an LW2 Titanium for a year, and while overall it was a great car we too had to get the clutch pack replaced. IMO Ford need to get a conventional auto in the Focus asap, and work out a retrofit scheme with dealer and third party workshops so current/future Powershift owners aren't burnt (too badly) So the cars can shine and consumers can start focussing on the positives of the product. I really dig the halo cars (Fiesta/Focus ST, Mustang/s, GT) but those wouldn't be possible without profits from bread and butter volume sellers (that people can rely on) |

Are US models suffering the same problems?
Frankly I think all DSG's from all brands should be scrapped and back to conventional autos. I'd gladly suffer any slight fuel use increase for a smoother drivetrain and who cares how fast a dsg can shift over a good ZF 8 speed auto. |

Ask the average punter what kind of gearbox is in an auto Focus, and he/she wouldn't know. IMO that's not the reason they are failing to sell (I'm not sure what the reason is, but I very much doubt the gearbox is it).

not that there have not been some issues, but more to do with ford oz preparing to shut their doors, and as you mentioned some dealership problems. also to top it off, the already mentioned DSG disaster that tarnished all of the ford front wheel drive models. ford gambled on the dsg and it bit them on the kyber. by the looks of it, fords bean counters are fords worst enemy, because if they had spent a bit more time and money testing the dsg , their front wheel drive range which has had good reviews over the years wouldn`t be mud now whether they have remedied the situation or not, hence they have thrown every possible gadget into the mondeo to try and entice buyers back , that is what it looks like anyway.. |

Ford needs to push and push hard the Ecoboost side of things.
No one knows anything about them, yet its something that none of the Japs or Koreans can compete with. Look at the F150 series from a few years ago on how to promote a product https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tEqwXrqzH4

i have always wondered if they had of put V6 ecoboost into the falcon years ago what effect it would have had on sales, despite how good the our straight six banger is, some people still see it as the old falcon 6 even though it has been developed for over 50 years and still kicks *** unbeknownst to many.. |

That's it in a nutshell. The lack of Ford Dealer service is endemic and appalling, and in my opinion was a substantial contributor to the demise of the Australian manufacturing operation. |

I'm gonna be different. West Point Ford Hoppers Crossing and Eclipse Ford Ballarat are in my mind the two best dealers you can go to. Fantastic service and always helpful. Staff even remember your name when you go back next time.
Rex Gorrell in Geelong is good too. Not as good as the other two but I'd buy a car from them if I had to. |

Reading the above it appears the small Fords have the reliability issues of a 2nd tier Euro and the driveway cred of a Ford.....gee, I wonder why they are not selling very well.

And she wont have any issues because unlike the petrol variants, the diesel use a wet clutch version. As for the dry clutch, they are a disaster that Ford wont admit to for a while! Remember ball joints and bushes in Territorys' that they didnt acknowledge for years. same ****. That is why they are where they are. Cant blame their entire dealer network. If you were a half decent Ford salesman, why would you want to work there? Guess that is why that quality of staff rate will continue to drop as their market share does.
