Could also get the aftermarket hawk grille for the S1.
Sky0AU1, what is your S1? Forte, Futura, Fairmont, Ghia???

sorry i forgot to mention S1 Forte. The car seems a lil different in the way it looks, i think it may be lowered. I bought the car from ford in oakliegh, vic. They said the police had used it previously, any ideas on what the cops did to the car? Another thing i noticed is the speedo had been changed.

Depends on what the cops used the car for - general duties, hwy patrol, detective's car, etc...
I forgot, you could also get a ute grille to fit.

You can change your grille with a Series II grille, but as far as I know you need ther series II bonnet as well. If you don't want to do that, you can always fit an aftermarket grille, or Fit the Ute grille... my dad has the ute grille body colored on his S1 sedan, and it does look good... alot better than the standard forté grille, that's for sure!
Either that or Just paint the Standard grille black or body coloured, it DOES make a huge improvement to the appearance of the car

You'll need the Series 2 bonnet for the Series 2 grill, same with Series 3.
You can fit a Ute grill though. Just hope you like the egg carton shape to it.

ok ive seen both, hawk and the ute grille. Both look better than the standard verticle line grille the S1's have. What are your opinions on which one to get out of those two?

I've attached a pic of my ute. It's a Series 2, so it's colour coded. The Series 1 grills were grey in colour.

Here's a pic of my dad's S1 with the ute grille, probably the best looking grille you can put on an S1, aside from some aftermarket ones!

ye that ute grill looks good, but the other aftermarket looks abit better. Basicly the reason for the better looking grille is because im getting some mags very soon and i want the grille to suit the mags. Mates told me to go the BA alloys but i was thinking something like this.... http://speedytyres.com.au/pics/2682b.jpg and with those the standard S1 grille would look yuk. atm im thinking the aftermarket would suit those wheels, btw my car is white.

I reckon you're right about the grille then. Standard grille would look woeful with mags like that!
I saw a S1 Forte when they first came out, with Futura grille. Mate of a mate worked for Ford, straight from the parts bin to the paint shop. Color coded, $100 all up or so. Looked really nice. Sorry fellas, I'm biased toward Futuras! But I reckon the Hawk grille sure would look nice with those mags! I prefer Tickford mags myself. A guy down the street from me, has an AU2 Forte, lowered, Tickford rims, XR6 front, painted green. Looks a treat, turns my head every time I drive by. LOL Last edited by GK; 05-04-2005 at 02:29 PM. |

I reckon those standard Forte grilles when combined with the bold centre line ridge/crease of the bonnet make the car look like a Klingon's forhead from Star Treck! LOL Last edited by GK; 05-04-2005 at 03:02 PM. |

The grille in that pic is the C2R grille for the AU, youd be looking at around $400 painted for that one from the last quote i got. If you go to aufalcon.com and look at my profile under premium members I have the Hawk grille. Set me back around $130 painted if i remember correctly and definately looks better than a stockie!

$110.00 from there, mention you are a member here as i think they do free freight.Looks much better than the standard grille, although i don't mind the standard grille colour coded. The other day i saw a nice V8 forte with a series 1 tickford kit, and a T3 spoiler, and it had a futura grille with the chrome bar removed and they replaced it with silver mesh. Looked great! Dunno if its custom or not? Maybe someone with an AU futura would be able to see if you can remove the chrome bar with ease? Last edited by GlennBA; 05-04-2005 at 05:50 PM. |
