im lookin at starting a project, preferably one where i can build a smaller sized car with a large v8 engine but have it look like a sleeper on the outside, it must be able to beat a commodore (vy/vx etc) off the line

capri mk1 with 302, some big brakes an bobs yer uncle. Will fit without bonnet chopping, use alloy heads and bell housing to keep the weight down. As this is a popular project all the info you will need is available.

ok well it doesnt have to be a v8 but its definitely got to be quick , and i'd also like to keep it under the 5k mark so any cheap suggestions would also be appeciated, thinking about putting a fairly large exhaust system as well as some nice rims so as to give the impression that it might be quicker than it looks

hey mate if you have only got 5k that might buy you just a bare shell...
you need minium 20k to do a v8 capri and similar conversions unless you can do alot of work yourself.. it will work out cheaper to save an extra 10 or so k and buy something already done... i now its not a ford but have you looked at any sr20det dattos? they can be ******** quick even on a mild sr.. maybe something to think about it you simply whant a fast car |

how hard would it be to get a car like that engineered these days? i was hoping to find one that has been engineered with the 302.
im considering a build like this as a long term project, im after minitubs, 9 inch, 302 that i will rebuild in time, i would do a full respray but would like the body to be in good condition.... if i can find something that grabs my attention id buy it but until then ill keep the money in the bank and keep looking
