When I bought my BF2 XR6 turbo almost 2 years ago for the same money I could have bought a used FG XR6 turbo or G6ET.. But with a lot more km... I decided on the mint low km as brand new BF2 instead.
Over the weekend, I was at a Birthday party showing a family member my XR6T and he asked what I paid for it... When I told him he says "what isn't it a BF" You could have bought a FG xr6 turbo for that money.. I told him that its an as new car with only a few thousand km on the clock and with all options and leather. He responds with "no matter, the fg is the better car" Whilst I agree the FG xr6t or G6ET is the better car but only when comparing new for new. But comparing a 7000km car vs 100,000km car, I don't think so. For any price point you can always buy a minter low km older car or a average newer car.. What is your preference? Older and mint/low km or newer and average/higher km. I would take the older (and even lower species car) that has the low km mint condition over a newer high km car. Actually it bugs me when people buyer the roughest cheapest example of a particular model just to say they have one.. For instance if you have money to buy a neat BF xr6 turbo buy one. For the same money Don't buy the roughest G6ET with 150,000km just to say you have a G6ET. Your thoughts? |

The Jones' only care about what is the newer model unfortunately..
Kinda like when people say a current day car is better than an older car, it's based purely on age.. I think I've seen someone constantly post that here.. not sure who though..

It doesn't take much too tidy a car up, in fact after you work on it you feel it's your own and not something you just paid for. What was the cake like? |

Depends on how they drive - right ? You may have 2 FG XR6T that have 80,000 Klm on them - identical cars - but they drive and feel different..... End of the day - none of the cars you listed BFXR6T / G6ET / FGXR6T are collectable or special - so why not buy the newer model - It may still have an extended warranty and end up being a better car and better value.

No questions about it. Newer/high km car.

Calendar time.
Water from the air absorbs into the brake fluid which causes braking system internals to corrode and deteriorate. Coolant deteriorates so corrosion happens in the cooling system especially aluminium parts. Rubber seals in the engine, transmission, diff, brakes, steering, cv's, turbocharger etc. harden and deteriorate so leaks start to happen or dirt gets in. Not to mention rust inside body panels that start to occur, unseen from the outside. All in a "mint" looking car regardless of how well its been serviced and cared for. Yeah, older cars are a better buy. The best buy is the car you most enjoy owning and driving. One that continually satisfies you for years on end, whenever you open the door and sit in it in the garage, and when driving it. Whether its high mileage or low, new or old. |

Here's a dilemma for you Hulk - and dont blow a rear main seal thinking about it too much.....
Would you prefer your XR6T or this genuine Phase III below ? Now think about the Pros and Cons , maybe start a poll to cover it.. HULKS XR6T or this Genuine daily driven Phase III ( remember - Best of breed V newer car with lower kays mint argument blah blah blah ) Which would you choose......

I knew of an XR6T that had a harder life than most cars. This thing got thrashed like no tomorrow, burnout after burnout after burnout.
The car was purchased brand new for the intention of burnouts. By the time my friend sold the car it had racked up around 6000ks around 5 years old, had been resprayed to hide the tyre slap, interior still looked brand new as the back seat never got used. So yes this car looked like a show room car after the respray had low cars, engine sounded fine. but deep down we knew it was thrashed and destroyed. |
