Default how much rubber under EA-ED?

Hey guys ive just scored some 255/40/17s thanks to "Tylthidras" on the forum im pretty sure they will fit on my rear w/out scrubbing but dont wanna waste money to get em fitted and have em scrub, also ive got superlows and the BA xr8 copies if this helps. So how will i go? Also while this is up what is the biggest rubber anyone has put under put under an e-series? (without tubs of course!!)

255's will go under the rear without any issues.
i plan on getting some 255's at some point.

while we're on the subject, whats the widest tyre you could go on an 8" rim?

ive got 255's under the rear of my NC, on (i think) 8.5" rims without any scrubbing at all, havent even lipped the guards..

i reckon you could just about go 265 without lipping and about 285 or so with lipped rears....

i dont know if thats just the Fairlanes, or weather falcons are the same....

ive heard but dont know if its true or not, you can only get around 245's up the front of the ea - el's

we have a ea model fairlane that runs 275/35r17 on the back on 9 inch rims, and the gaurds were lipped to fit them, its also pretty low.

Got the tyres fitted yesterday they fit, but the wierd thing is left hand side i thave bout 1mm clearance and scrubbed a little on the way home (with 4 steelies in boot and on a shocking road) but on the right side i have about 15-20mm i dunno if its had a shunt at some stage or maybe just have some worn bushes etc...

Probably because it is lowered, some cars the diff moves to one side but I don’t know if this is the case for EBs.

nope the watts linkage setup on a falcon makes the diff go up straight. unlike the panhard rod setup on the commodores which makes it move across to the side.....

When i had my EL, the watts link had done something strange, the axle was further to the left looking from the back. Always annoyed me, think it had been in a prang though.

I have had 295/30-18's on 9" rims with superlows on my EB and they didn't touch. Tried a pair of 315/30's for a laugh and a few skids, apart from being too big for the rims they only touched with harsh cornering.
