Rang up snort today and his rebuilt my turbo :..... gotta go and pick it up.... got all excited I went outside ready to prepare it for the turbo.... I got out the timing light and thought the timing was already retarted like 30 degree's but it was because the timing marks dont line up. I have an el motor with an eb crank pully because I kept the 3 belt setup. I think I'm gonna have to guess or swap the pullys back over to get the timing right.
the old motor had a head made for lowered compression and it ran standard timing. I plan to use this head but not straight away as I still havent got it milled or replaced the lifters. My question is, how much should I retart the timing for this setup and is it worth the power loss? As the old owner ran 11 through it with standard timing, but this is a totally different motor. Do the eb and late el motors have the same compression? I have the book for the eb motor but am unsure of what compression the el ran if its higher then I might get this other head on before the turbo goes back on. anyways I am excited wanted to spread the news lol |

EB are 8.8:1 compression
EL motors are 9.3:1
