Default HSV Carsales Review

http://www.carsales.com.au/reviews/2...iversary-23338

Am i the only one who cannot believe the amount of bias in this article?? This guy clearly had made his mind up before he even drove the car. He even had a pot shot at the Falcon at the end of the article.

I wouldnt have called it a review, more like an advertisment.

Honest to god this guy is the biggest ****** I have ever had the displeasure of reading, the tripe that spews from his finger tips..how it gets past the editor is beyond me.

What the heck does "his mates" (yeah right Josh) XR8 have to do with the review of a Maloo, the XR8 is currently discontinued anyway.

Josh you are a disgrace...about time you showed your hand aswell, because it hasn't been half obvious. That kind of "journalism" should be kept for your Facebook lovers.

This isnt a review of the car. Its a half-hearted whinge session of the issues hes had with these turds. And then still gives it a flat 4/5 on every aspect. Dowling really is a massive bonehead....

On a side note, interesting to see HSV rolling out sticker jobs now.....wonder if it means anything?

Of course he's gonna have a Holden bias, if he was stupid enough to buy more than one of those. Bogans love shiny things. I'll bet he owns a 3D TV and goes to Bali on holidays as well. Those bloody Fawwcuns, they're sheeet an that aye.

Added my own comment. Wonder when it gets deleted?!

What a crap review. You've had plenty of problems with your own previous GMHolden utes. The test car had problems and has some serious design issues with the lack of vision being one of them. The paint quality another. But that will be fixed. The body mouldings coming off. But that will be fixed too! Then just to add some balance, report on an unrelated Ford product that your mate owns which retails for $25k less and say that it had problems too. BTW I own two Falcons and both have been trouble free. Which is just as relevant to the review...

Wow, he was pretty open then about his brand loyalty. My 3yo son could write something more balanced.

This.

Also, now we have solid proof (from his own mouth no less) that he truly is biased because he's a serial Holden buyer. Gives us more ammunition to discredit his articles in future.

A joke of a review, putting a comment up saying the same.

I love how he says they have 'gone over the top with this one', has he even taken a look at the car.

Had to add my own comment to that bias crap article.

That is the worst looking ute I have ever seen give me a FPV GS ute any day. On another note how much did HSV pay for you to write this crap artical?

Also compairing your "mate" down the roads xr8 to this is like compairing a toyota echo to a lamborghini gallardo you my friend are a idiot and should stick to writing those crappy holden slogens you seem to love so much.

see how long it stays there for

Scores notwithstanding, based on the review, you wouldn't buy it, anyway.

yes but your 3year old son would actually give more of a xxxx that it was balanced. dowling is a total clown for many reasons. He knows very little about cars and how they work for someone who purports to be an expert....i've heard some of his work on radio and he knows diddly about the basic mechanics/features of modern cars. his brand loyalty is one thing (everyone on this site has some sort of brand allegiance) but the way it colours his reviews (even on non-gm products) is as shameful as he is shameless. In alot of cases he isn't so open about it niether and unsuspecting readers get alot of dubious reports. After all, if a guy is willing to so obviously favour one brand over another how can you ever trust him to report with any sense of objectivity on any issue. You cant' imagine him every giving a rousing positive review to a XR8 if he gets in it the whole time thinking 'my Holden XXXXX is so much better i just know it must be....'.

The sail plane issues he talks about have existed since the first E1 Maloo.

The sail Plane is made of 3 pieces, a top section and 2 wings

There are 3 moulding "pulls" or dimples across the top section that are visible if you look along the top of it that some people complain about and others don't bother about, the side wings will pucker out away from the body over time, again some complain about it, others don't.
If HSV are addressing these its been a long time coming.....

The last comment summed up the Aussie car industry and all the Ford and Holden fans are giving that comment a wide berth.

In fact, in that they have something in common with Josh and his new Holden ute. Instead too many people shuffle off to the Ford or Holden dealer for yet another round of "they all do that" while mumbling to themselves that all brands do this, as some kind of mantra to dull the sense they might just have bought a lemon and the company that made it, isn't that interested this time around then they were the last, or the time before that.

Pity more aren't writing in the comments that Holden and Ford need to raise their game or loose their future business and this lottery on build quality that Ford and Holden put their customers through isn't acceptable. That is the real story here.

Four bought Australian built cars, now there is three. That story has been repeated all over Australia for the past decade as the numbers of people who will put their hand up for a repeat Holden or Ford car get smaller. Ford and Holden fans have a go at this guys writing, while missing the key point entirely.

Its also a case of you get what you pay for and ultimately the consumer chooses and should be held responsible for their own decision within reason. The market is full of good options.

Issues arise when the customer support fails, thats the bigger problem IMO.

If he had read his VE owners manual, he would know that every VE / WM is owner selectable to make "the reverse lights automatically come on at night so I don't step in dog muck.".

I just think many are just sick and tired of hearing comments that are either just so biased for personal reasons or are being paid to say things ...... Reviews in ALL publications are becoming way too openly biased while honest nuts and bolts comments are a thing of the past. Tops Gear was (is) successful because of their "I like this and don't like this for this reason and don't give a damn what the manufacturer says ... " type attitude. Most want to read a good honest review and be able to say at the end, whether agreeing or otherwise .... "Fair enough ... !"

Actually I do enjoy reading the RACV magazine car reviews ..... the point system is very good and seems to be very honest. Rest of the mag is crap though and is turning away from its car routes and into Womens Day type crap.

So true, and I bet some of the downfalls of products critiqued by people such as Topgear actually get rectified.

Nothing worse than a "yes man".
