Default MAP sensors

Ok guys,

Could someone please explain the difference between the two MAP sensors that are available for EA to EL.

These can be identified by "A1A" or "A2A" at the end of the part number.
A1A Map sensors are found in Series 1 EA's where A2A are found in Series 2 EA onwards from what I have allways seen at wreckers, etc
Now I was informed that the A2A Map sensor has some kind of 'backfire' protection? Steven (SPOPE) doesnt believe me & we would like any information on these..

So if anyone knows the difference and can explain why my EA wont run correctly with a A1A Map sensor but will with a A2A

I think you are talking out of your bottom. :P
The A2A map sensor has a bit more of a triangle shape to it, that is clearly the difference!
It's a bit prettier!
Now, how can a Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor "detect" an impending misfire? It doesn't know what the timing is, it doesn't know how much fuel is in the manifold, etc... It just measure Absolute Pressure, and variations thereof.
If I was to guess, I would say it was revised to be not so darn flakey - or have a quicker response time.
The other thing that should clue you in is that the wiring connector is the same. You know as well as I do that wherever possible, Ford changed wiring plugs, just to annoy people.

LOL Im only going off what I was informed by Thanatos one afternoon.
Ive cracked apart a A1A and a A2A and it seemed different inside..
Now someone MUST know the difference between the two revisions.

LOL you think that FORD just made the different triangle style shape on the A2A just for a Designer POV?

Not sure of the difference, but the back fire protection may not be to stop a backfire, but make the MAP sensor more resistant to damage from a backfire
