And AF gauge is a way of displaying output from an oxygen sensor.

2 main types.

1 - the most common is the type of gauge which displays the voltage from a car's standard (narrowband) oxygen sensor. Good for information purposes (can see the car running in closed loop mode, can see if it's rich or lean) but these sensors are limited and cant provide a true, accurate reading apart from stoichometric ratio.

2 - expensive wideband oxy sensors, controllers and displays. These provide an accurate air/fuel reading all the way from 10:1 to 17:1. Perfect for tuning purposes.

Most A/F Gauges will hook up fine to the standard E-Series I6 oxygen sensor right?

Yes - any narrowband gauge, which is basically a voltimeter with range 0.1v to 0.9v
