OK who watched the last episode. I haven't been watching during the season, but thought that this being the last of the series, it'd be worth a watch.
I was right. Ford Vs Holden: round 2 : Pov pack All I can say is that I’m stunned they got it right this time. The ford absolutely smoked the Holden in the drag race. 2-3 car lengths. Lost the brake test by about a bonnet length. Handling test was hard to tell what they liked. Decision was the FG was by far the better car. : Finally, some journo’s admit it. Then the icing on the cake, the lap. 1.5s+ faster than the Holden ::: And then, even better. A rant telling people to buy these cars (Fords and Holden's), or we'll end up with FWD pieces of Japanese crud. : So, what did we all think? Lets just hope that this opens some people's eyes to just how good these FG things are. And that aussie cars are worth it. Cheers

Great to see them agree on it, and Cox's final little rant on the prospect of losing these awesome Aussie cars was bloody terrific.

They never actually said the FG was the better car, it would have been more fairer if the both did the same tests in the other car

The FG has been bashed from pillar to post and more so on these forums where you would accept more of a blue/one eyed biased approach instead of the constant bashing. I dont accept everything Ford does as the bees knees but boy! When they do things right I will shout it and they have so done the right thing with the FG ..... with 1/2 the develoment budget Was a good show tonight!

Be better if termites like Gover supported Ford's product a little more, rather than constantly choosing negative headlines for Ford, while praising Holden's overweight VZ, despite the FG being more than a match.

I think everyone knew the Ford was going to be the better car, as it has been well documented in newspaper articles, however what they failed to mention how much better the Falcon is on fuel, and they could of also made mention that the Falcon and Commodore are available with LPG, and they could of tested the LPG powered cars aswell, and made it a feature episode comparing the Petrol vs LPG cars.
Cant really complain with the episode though as the Falcon smoked the Commodore hand over fist! The billion dollar baby went down along with there 99 cent fuel offer!

Cheque book journalism, these guys are on the take from Holden, never trusted a review Charlie ever made, how can they ever pick this car as a winner, they always put Holdens at the front of the show… umm hang on they picked Ford on this one…
Brilliant impartial review, always knew they would pick the right one, really appreciate the integrity of these fine journalists, they always get it right etc Anyway, very convincing win for Falcon. Ford should be happy with that one. Would be nice to see a proper review of both cars in a future episode. Charlies rant for the Aussie cars at the end, was brilliant. Now if he has a rant for better Ford dealers next week, and gets Ford to do something, he has sold me. : |

I'm sure he said Ford sunk big bucks in development of the FG and if they failed it was all over for Ford, but as i wasn't wearing my goggles or eye patch my selective hearing aid might have been turn down to low and it hard to lip read without my one blue eye in focus

Better spending 1/2 billion than 1 billion to 'almost' get it right. How many Commodores would it take to crack 1/2 billion in profit?

If you follow the media releases GM are not in as good a position as ford financially no matter what eye patch you have on but on the FFA site one would expect a blue one. good to see a positive outcome for a superior product handles better, goes faster & doesn't cut out in all a good review for the blue oval

This is exactly what the FG Falcon needed. I was watching it with my head turned slightly with one eye open I was so hoping Ford came through with the goods.

Well, the Ford is the better car, most discerning drivers would be able to tell that just by carefully examining the cars and driving them.
What lets the Holden down is the transmission and lack of refinement in the driveline. Also the visibility and the interior is markedly inferior IMO to the Ford. They got it right. But as has been said, how many poverty pack buyers would really care about the differences and the refinement issues? |
