JEEP IS recalling thousands of its prized Wrangler model that were sold in Australia.
The mass recall comes after revelations the vehicle has significant defects which could endanger the lives of passengers and the driver. The model being recalled is the 2016-2017 JK Wrangler. What are the defects? The front impact sensor wire(s) on these specified models may become detached during a crash event before the "impact signal" is recorded by the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). Vehicles may experience no airbag and or pretensioner deployment in certain crash events where airbag or pretensioner deployment is expected. What are the hazards? Failure to deploy the airbags or pretensioners when required during a crash event could increase the risk of injury or death to front seat occupants. What should consumers do? FCA Australia will notify vehicle owners who can take their vehicle to a Jeep dealership where the vehicle will be repaired free of charge. http://www.productsafety.gov.au/reca...-jeep-wrangler

But then again sales are dropping fast so maybe people have got the message. |

If we are talking about brand recalls, here's the 2016 list by brand-

US also has very different approach to recall they will issue one for what most other countries would issue a service notice need to understand the severity before making too many conculsions
BTW not saying they havent had some shockers prob just not the volume of bad as others, after all getting Toyota/Lexus to admit to their accelerator problem was a major event Grand Cherokee gear box was interesting, it was a silly shifter design but the problem was user error but they recalled it twice to overcome user error issues |

Yes, I do own 2015 diesel GC and it's had 1 recall which was the 'Park' lockout, damn Nice vehicle BUT I'm no fanboy of the brand (same applies to Ford) and Jeep can shove this vehicle up its **** due to the transmission issues it has, which btw is a German built ZF 8'speeder. |

Thats debatable. I own a JK Wrangler and certainly don't consider the build to be rubbish.
Ford has its fair share of recalls for safety issues, and its also had its fair share of blame dodging certain issues it refuses to recall. |

Well it won't ever be an issue again now that it's shut up shop down here. At least global models we get now have much bigger budgets to fix little issues that pop up. Something FoA didn't have the budget for.

Add in the stupid recall to stop Darwinism occurring because some people didn't check to ensure the car was in Park before getting out and running themselves over, and I believe that's it. My last 2 Jeep GC's have been great vehicles! Completely reliable, a hell of a lot of fun to drive and I wouldn't hesitate to get another (bring on the Hellcat GC!).

I've had a complete trans fluid flush with the old fluid sent to FCA for analysis, numerous TSB's applied to the trans computer, even new driveshafts, a completely new trans ($13 grand odd) and it's back in as I type, they are doing more test and changing the transfer case fluid. Issues are typically in the 1,2,3 gears, up and down. Harsh changing, flaring and are worse when the trans is cold. Oddly, the trans temp when left overnight reports back as around 24 degrees, despite ambient being less than 12, in my view it's not the trans, its the shift programming. |

I just receieved a safety recall from Ford last week.
I also used to own a Jeep and never had any issue. Never had any issues with my Ford either, except this current recall. |

Legal up and put the demand for a refund/replacement (plus costs) to the dealer. That's bull**** as a resolution.

And yep, snow mode locks out first and changes the shift characteristics, presumably softer shifting, issue here is the accelerator calibration on the diesels is doughy, making turbo lag even more noticeable and in stop go traffic, using second is going to make it a real slug. The trans itself (ZF 8HP 70 in the case of the diesel) is in some seriously high end vehicles such as Rolls Royce Phantom, AM Rapide/DB9/Vanquish, Maserati Quatroporte and there's no way in hell owners of one of those vehicle would put up with the shifting characteristics I have, the ole BW35 is nicer.
