hey all..
ok from what i understand, when it comes time to register a vehicle that registration has expired on, it must go over the pits? two questions: 1. What is the situation with body rust and roadworthiness 2. How do you go about driving the car to be repaired or obtain RWC. thanks, santo

2. You can get permits from Vicroads that allow you to drive the car directly to the mechanics. I think it costs around $50 for a few days.

Vicroads unregistered vehical permit is about $37.50ish for one day and $1 a day extra for upto a month or so, which allows you to get to the mechanics and back. You can pick these up on the spot from vicroads after providing them with some details.

how long did the rego expire? If less than three months and same name, no need, just pay it and you are fine.
Otherwise, RWC, book in at vicroads, and get an unreg vehicle permit. Remember to book in with Vicroads first, and askl about alll the charges, they put some up July 1st (incl rego), and there is a booking fee, cost of plates etc. Also, if you bought the car unregistered, make sure you have proof of ownership, otherwise theyw ont do it. |
