MOMO Brand new genuine oem leather steering wheels for EF/AU less than $200

Theres a guy on ebay selling genuine momo leather steering wheels with audio buttons on the wheel for less than $200 i got mine for $150 last week and it's bloody awsome he has a **** load too red and blue thought id let u guy's know.

Cant you get them to work on a normal auto box aswell? I remember reading (or was it dreaming?!?) that armed with some knowledge and a soldering iron a standard box would do it too...

airbag doesnt come with the wheel just use the one you already have.

Looking at the pics, I can't see how the ESS buttons would hook up to a normal clockspring... do you need a Tx50 one?

Spray the airbag satin black vinyl dye, it'll look fine.

There is a guy who is working on the electrics to make these buttons work. I've been waiting 15 months for them - haven't given up yet, but am still waiting.

There is always a way to get these things to work, and to be honest, I'm sure you could hook the wheel buttons up to do anything, as long as you can get the signal through the clock spring.

What do you think of those wheels they look ok ive got the blue facia in my speedo and rekn it would look good with the metalic wheel.

I have got offered a "second chance offer" on a blue one, which is $175+$25p&h, but i wanted a grey one to match my grey interior. But a grey one will cost alot more than $200, because bidding starts at $200!!

Does anyone have any pics of a blue wheel in a car with a grey interior? Does it look out of place?

I paid $300 for my grey one. Anything under that for a grey one is a good deal I reckon. Red and bright blue ones are getting up in price too, metallic blue ones seem to be still around so I wouldn't pay more than $225 for one of them.

Yeah, $300 is a bit rich, but probably worth it because it will match and recovering/recoloring the blue would probably cost more in the long run.

Is the grey the same as the grey interior or a different grey?

simple enough to get the buttons to work, just need to overlay the correct voltage via the horn wires and then use SSS module you have JC to do the rest, would only require a switch on/off to activate.

I was thinking of using the radio wires, and this is what muzza is working on. The pwr/econ button becomes the switch then (ie power mode = buttons work). I have been thinking of modifying the BA gear selector circuit to work from these buttons, but I am not that talented. It's easier to wait for Muzz to get things working - in fact I may email him now!

Guys, just for interest sakes I used to work for BTR in the R&D department then moved to Dana who make the diffs (don't blame me for the noises though).

However I was talking to my fellow manager at Dana who was the GM of BTR's R&D facility in Sydney before it was moved to Albury and all the good engineers left.
He told me that the AU series 1 box (in a non tickford car) will handle ESS mode.

When BTR was showing Tickford the original idea they just had a simple toggle switch set up in a standard box. So the Tickford engineers hopped in hit a button in the dash (temp mounted if course) and then used the mini joystick to go up or down the gears as necessary. The early T series did not have the stereo controls on the steering wheel but only the cruise control on the right hand side, as there was an issue with the ESS needing to use the designated wiring so the stereo controls were sacrificed.

My friend has stated that you could set the ESS up on a regular Falcon/Fairmont by using the stereo controls as per JC's comments or if you were game you could set up a mini joystick a la early prototypes. I have somwhere buried at home the full schematic drawings for a number of models of BTR auto's, as these were going into the bin when the Sydney R&D facility was closed down.
I am going to contact the electrical guru who helped design this feature when I get time, to get him to set this up for me. I will share this information when done, however it will be when I get time which is not in the near future sorry.

So to recap if you buy the ESS wheel it can be adaped to work on the "standard box" but you will lose cruise or stereo.
Or you can make the car do the same without a fancy ESS wheel but you have to play arounnd with a mini joystick or convert the stereo controls.

I can see it now "powered by playstation" LOL.

I dont mind losing the stereo controls. Myself along with quite a few other here have lost the stereo control feature through upgrading to aftermarket equipment. I had completely forgotten there was even buttons there for it :

I bought my black/grey MOMO wheel from Autotek in Sydney for $200 ... but I don't think they can get these ones anymore.

I was lucky.
