Default Re: fuel comparison

Isn't that basic maths?

LPG spend = 400×15.2×0.93
Petrol spend = 400×9.5×1.49

Difference = $7.60

Geez Tonz, 15.2 is a bit ordinary, my dual fuel Sportsman does better than that.

I do have that big 'glass box on the rear and my speed is usually VERY close to the legal limit...whatever that is. Usually returning from Adelaide in afternoon, once past Adelaide the ute has a tendency to stretch its legs, always in a hurry to get home

The Problem with the equation is the price of the LPG..

Melbourne price is about 0.72, but I know places at 0.61
all of a sudden there's over a grand a year saving.

but that's if you already have it installed. its no longer worth the cost of conversion IMO.

I would have still kept with LPG ... if doing the kays for work.
But with the LPG pricing rising constantly .... and the lowering of petrol prices mainly. And the lower fuel consumption of petrol vehicles. I went back to Petrol.

But I only do about 25,000km a year in traffic now .... not 2 to 3 times that.

Ford has been using harden valves/seats for many years on the I6 ... no issues with valves anymore on dedicated LPG.

Main thing I notice is the lack of LPG pumps now that there is no factory LPG vehicles from any manufacturer anymore.

Not sure if you have eGas or ecoLpi,
but either way the difference in economy isn't that massive.
At worst, you'll use about 20% more.
So if you are in fact getting 15.2 with gas, petrol would have been around 12.5

Doing about 400k per week, I save $15~20 depending on the price of petrol.
And for mine the biggest advantage is that I can fill up anytime I like, and don't have to queue up for an hour on Mondays to save 20c a litre on petrol.

Oh, and BTW LPG engines last a LOT longer than Petrol engines. That's not just a proven scientific fact, its born out by anecdotal evidence.

Hate to break it to you PB, but fuel hasn't had valve protection since they stopped making LRP.

i let my FG e-gas go in order to drive an AU petrol
18l/100km of lpg and the AU does 12.5 on petrol

if i headed north there is 1 servo before the freeway that sold lpg so if that was out i'd add 30 mins to any trip north, petrol i can fill up anywhere and use anything from 91- 98 depending on when i got paid

sorry lpg you are dead to me, i blame "the government"
