Unhappy My EB got hit while parked...again!

As the title says, my EB was innocently parked on the side of the court I live in while I was inside reading these forums and waiting for the plumber to arrive to fix the heater before going to uni. When the plumber arrived at my door the first thing he asked was if the falcon out front was mine, and I knew what he'd done...

Don't ask me how he did it, I mean its not like it was a tight fit to get passed it, maybe my car 'jumped out in front of him' the way power poles occasionally do wannabe street drifters. Whatever the case, here's the damage

The dint in the door in the last pic was already there before today, I came out of Safeway with my groceries last year to find it, no name or number or anything, just a dint and a little paint. Might get that fixed too while the cars in the shop, if the price is right

At least the guy was apologetic about it (and he fixed my lounge room heater)
Its only minor damage but still a pain in the but, glad I have insurance to chase the plumbing company for the money!

he was driving a van, the metal step under the tailgate slightly stuck out from the side of his panels, when he hit the panels just rubbed but the metal step bit in, that was what hooked my bumper

Believe it or not, but my front bumper looked nearly identical to that a couple of months ago. The only difference was that I had an extra hole in mine.

Thats nothing!

However it does suck. Getting stuff fixed when you had nothing to do with it is BS.

Just be glad its covered by insurance :(

interesting new development, got a call from my insurance company today asking how much damage was from the crash and what was already there, the smash repairs place quoted for the door and everything even tho there was already that big dint in the door, since there is an extra scratch on it. To fix all that under insurance my car is a write off, i was given a choice of fixing the fender forwards or write off!!!

I think i'll get the car back and go see if i can get a cheaper quote to do the whole lot!

Its on a farm insurance policy (with lots of other cars trucks tractors and motorbikes) which means cheap for us, but we get less money when its crashed, if its a write off we get market value minus 10%. What would market value on this car be? I paid $2100 in january 2006 but have put lots of money in it since, hell the radiator alone is 400 bucks new 3 weeks ago!

My old VP wagon v6 auto in sh**house condition in January 2006 was apparently worth $3300, so we got 3 grand for the write off, i'd have expected this falcon to to be equal at least!!

Any thoughts???

Thats not a lot of damage on the corner.
What? Indicator and rehang the bumper, then a bit of buff?
Can't you do that?

See if they let you keep the car in a write-off.
Use the cash and fix it or get another car and use yours as parts.
Market value:

From the look of your photos , you weren't a bit too close to the corner were you?

The positioning of the right hand headlight looks a bit suss too.

the only way to get the other company to pay was to use my insurance, otherwise it was my pocket, which was not going to happen! as ea_silver_ghia picked up on, the whole headlight assembly has broken mounts, i know it would be cheap, but it was NOT coming out of my pocket when my car was parked, i can't afford that!

I don't get to touch the car if it is written off, my old commodore was a surprise write off, in that the smash repairs told us for a week that it would be easily fixable, so i didn't go and grab out all my speakers and that, onlt to have the actual insurance assessor write it off, and i wasn't allowed to go get my audio gear because that was "part of the car"

no, was not too close to the corner, i've measured it before since i got booked there when i first moved in, and there can be 1 car parked behind where mine was and still easily fit inside the restrictions
