well guys i have bought a new car a 1988 fairmont to replace my monty 1989 fairmont ghia as most of you know it is dead cause i crashed it.
but i have a few questions 1. can all my ghia goodies go back in ? e.g power windows, cruise control, velour interior. 2. is it a big job for all of this ? 3. its a cfi model what is better efi or cfi ? now my efi engine was rebuilt and was not driving as good as the cfi i test drove the car today an it runs alot better and can actually pull a skid not like my efi. need some cheap mods to get it under way i have an exhaust from my old car and mags and lowering and im going to use that but other performance mods are going to be needed and i need some help also the funds arent really there so some prices and stuff would be greatly appreciated

EFI no question there
Yes swap everythinng over, I would, it is a big job in terms of what need to be done, but its not overly hard. I hope both are 4 speed or swapping gearboxes will be a problem.

An EA fairmont with a cfi engine? I thought they were all mpi out of the factory. CFI is 120kw and MPI 140KW. After doing a mpi conversion to my EA 4spd auto cfi, i can say mpi is light years ahead. Instant 20kw gain and more torque.

Sounds good man, keep us posted with the changeover. You can swap as much stuff as you want but it comes down to time and energy.

It'd be easier going with a 5 speed manual than changing to the 4 speed auto. More than worth it too, especially as you were planning to on the other car?

while you're screwing around with it it would be worthwhile putting a T5 in..... just pull everythnig out of the fairmont ghia and put it into the fairmont. basically reshell your ghia into the fairmont Last edited by LUXO_8; 01-06-2005 at 08:31 PM. |

1. Everything can be swapped over easy.. just get a few mates to help u out. All the wiring, etc must be swapped over. Took me about a day to do it ;)
2. as stated above 3. CFi... burn it ;) Convert the Car to MPFI, its quite easy and both your cars are Series 1 so its easy.

It's probably cheaper in the long term to buy a car with all the goodies already in it, unless you're good pulling the dash out (is anyone? if so, please pm me... :P), or have mates who are.
I can sell you an EB Fairmont if you want...! |
