Default Quit Motorplex: BF F6 auto runs 11.81

Yep, ran 11.81 @ 122.61mph last night on Continental CSC2 street tyres.

Details:
ET: 11.812
Terminal speed: 122.61 mph
RT: 0.518
60' 2.068
330' 5.255
660' 7.79
660' speed 157.17 kph
1000' 9.968

Vehicle ran with full tank of fuel with spare in boot etc using my daily 14-15psi street tune. Couldn't get any octane booster to try the drag tune I made so I guess the time it run is a true indicator of what the car's potential is.

A quick thanks to Australian Performance Centre in Wangara for the use of their facilities and fitting/exhaust techs. Much appreciated.

I'll be keen to try MT ET Streets in the next few weeks, along with my better tune, to see how it goes.

wow mate that is something special congradulations....you could prob shave a few hundredths if you took the wheel out and had less fuel to burn...that goes to show just how capable your car is in its true road form.

I hate turbo's LOL haha. (joking)

Well done mate great time in street trim. I am hoping to crack the 12's in street trim with my big boss very soon. (hence the reason I am jealous of the turbo's).

I went for my first ever ride in a F6 not long ago, was Simons 400kw monster. Now I think I have 2 lazy slugs under the bonnet holding me up haha.
But not realy, I love my 8....

Thats a very soft launch (Or lots of wheelspin!). With some ET Streets should be able to knock off an easy 0.3-0.5secs.

that is just a sensational time- the auto makes the F6 doesn't it......

well done mate- who would have thought Ford would be turning cars off the showroom floor with this much potential, just incredible.

Tune and upgraded fuel system, couple of bolt on parts and the usual mods to make an 11 sec car that can be driven daily is an awesome achievement. Makes me very jealous of the results these cars can achieve with relative ease......

Just keeps me asking why you'd bother with a V8.

Unless pride and bravado is an issue. :

It was a very soft launch, only stalled it to 1500pm, then 1/2 throttle during launch to minimise wheelspin.

Like you say, traction will go a long way to reducing the ET.

Thanks Jim.

But to clarify, the car is modded past the basic bolt-on stage. I'm running a Cobra intake kit, ASE intercooler, trick exhaust setup (albeit with the stock dump pipe), bigger squirters, upgraded fuel pump. With the kit, the engine is more responsive, needs less boost and can handle more spark to make more power and torque than the stock intake setup.

Very nice results.

Did you purchase the SCT Dealer software? It sounds like you are saying you developed your own tunes...

Do you have a workshop or is it just for hobby (aka addiction)?

Yes, I purchased the SCT Dealer software after dealings with another tuner in WA (not to worry, he isn't a sponsor on this forum), who I wasn't happy with. With my prior tuning experience it was a no brainer to stop funding other people's learning curve, and tackle the job myself.

I develop my own tunes, but also share them with another reputable tuner in WA, being Battens Performance Tuning/BPT Motorsport. Being able to share resources with WA's leading Ford performance shops like BPT, and utilising the dyno facilities at Australian Performance Centre in Wangara, has allowed my to develop the car to where it is.

You could say, I do it for a hobby, albeit an expensive one. I'll attempt to post the timeslips and dyno graphs as well.

Yep, that was me. Poor Boss, hehehe. Ran a 12.05, 12.2 and 12.09 with traction problems. It won't happen next time though.

Thanks mate, much appreciated.

I should have prepped the car a bit better, but it may have infact gone backwards with the limitation of traction. I've secured a set of ET Street tyres for the next time, so will probably head down on a fast Friday with a better setup. Hopefully Terry's car will be ready soon too.

Good time Jason …. not so consistent with street rubber!! but every now and again you can get one to stick. Those tires u are running are supposed to be very good. Not to mention the cost!!!

I did run an 11.84 @ 119.5mph with MT Street Radials. @ $220 each ..cheap tire to burn-up down there. But I don’t have all the add-ons like the nizpro kit, intercooler and plumbing you run with. Mine is still as it’s always been with Injectors pump and exhaust only.

I might get brave and go a nizpro kit and crank the camel up a tad.. I figure if I can get 11.8 with just what I have atm, I’d be good to go for low low 11’s and dare I say it high 10’s with a few more mods like cooler and plenum & piping.

Then again I think by xmas all these times will fade into insignificance

Thanks Greg, but I wouldn't put too much faith in those $600 per corner Continentals. I've had a flaming row with the tyre reseller the day of the drags about the poor performance of the tyre for the price they cost. They may be OEM tyres for Porsche, BMW etc, but that doesn't mean they're the best. I'd have been better off buying Bridgestone RE55 motorsport tyres.

Competition breeds innovation! It would be good to see a 10 second pass from one of these cars.....who will do it first?

i think going by your 60fts Greg you probably wernt really using the potential of the MT's anyways. I mean Milz has run 11.9's with stock cross over on sp9000's last season, Phil's F6 auto with just cat dump and injectors and tune with his sp9000's ran 12.1 first time hes raced it. Not bad i recon. Now all we have to do is get TOM down there with BF F6 that ive done with the Nizpro kit. Think he said hes right to go in a couple of weeks :

ahhh if only the manual sedans where this easy :

Do that Greg, it shouldn't be that hard. If a 'DIY' person like myself can do it, it's not difficult. I'm hardly turning the wick up on my car, and could probably have done that time with the stock cross-over piping. After all, I ran 119mph in my XR6T manual with the stock piping, with bigger injectors, ASE cooler and exhaust. The different intake generates power much easier than the stock intake at less boost levels.

quigebo spoke to me before scrutineering asking me how to launch these A6's, as he'd been told about the trans going into limp mode, and another BF F6 Typhoon with Nizpro kit had converter lockup problems and the trans went into limp mode. I told him it wasn't my car. Anyone we know?

Ok, I'll put some thought into that. However, what's wrong with the MT Street tyres? I can only but guess that the tyres have been laying around during the off season, and have gone hard. Is there any way to revive these tyres?

So the graph you posted isn't the tune you ran.?? That graph shows 16.5 psi? Is the posted graph your drag tune with octane booster??

Good effort Jason, imagine what you can do when you get the fuel curve right??

Lol Ben, yep, the boost curve is correct, it does initially ramp up to 16.5. With the turbo control now running in closed loop there is no longer a boost spike.

The fuel curve, well, I like to run more fuel at peak torque, as opposed to a pretty straight line that others like to achieve. From what I have learnt over my years of tuning, more fuel can be added where the engine makes peak torque. It doesn't cost the engine any more power (by adding up to 0.5 AFR point fuel as opposed to running it leaner) and reduces the chance of knock onset.

It would be good if the sensor didn't rattle in the exhaust during the run though and making the scaling on the graph smaller e.g. AFR reading of 10 to 20, rather than the 10-15 I use for tuning.

Bad luck about your car. Good to see you still have the spirit to soldier on.
