Its just the intake snorkel from the AU XR8 or the BA XR6T, the only difference between the two being that the XR8 one has tickford wings and the XR6T one doesnt. They have a larger intake "mouth" than the standard snorkel, allowing for more air to be sucked in and helping the car the brathe a bit easier. The snorkel, a decent air filter and a nice exhaust can boost you power by a few kw's and definately makes the car feel and sound alot better. Your looking at around $30 from for spare parts. Grab one and paint it to suit the exterior of the car, do the airbox lid as well and it can spice an engine bay up for next to nothing ;)
Cheers, Brad |

go to your Ford dealer and ask for one, its bascially an AU XR8 intake snorkel, and it replaces the smaller intake on the 6 cylinder falcons....
BTW, do a search before asking questions, just a suggestion... EDIT: bugger blueAU, u bet me by ten seconds!! Last edited by hambo_12; 11-04-2005 at 02:25 PM. |

I got one for $22 a few months ago the difference would be so minimal. Im interested in the ef air box lid that is surposedly 85mm to the au's 55mm. Iv checked wrecking yards and asked at ford and can't find the difference or the pipe the runs into the middle. Also fords price on the item was way out there.

i have just purchased an AU Fairlane with the tickford I6 VCT engine..
does it have the tickford intake? is the difference the lil flares on each side of the mouth or what?? also what is the diffrence between the tickford I6 VCT engine and the stock AU Falcon I6 engine?? and is VCT just variable valve timing like 99% of newer cars have? thanks guys |

xr6007, yes I have put the intake on my xr6 and it didnt do much, just made the response a bit better, maybe. There are still too many other bottle necks in the intake to sort out before any increase is made...
blackers10, no, only the xr8 and above had the tickford intake (but dont quote me on that). One way to find out if you have it is to look for a tickford sign at the top of the intake snorkel, if it is, you have the tickford one... I dont know enough about the vct to spell out the differences, but there are a hell of a lot of people on this forum that do... |

VCT is variable cam timing. Also what are the main technical differences between the HP and VCT? Is it basically just the variable timing gear or other goodies as well? ..the variable cam timing can retard and advance cam timing to create more power Its just the Head and VCT mechanism. The block and everything else is the same on all the AU I6 engines.
