2.8 with more power, that would be handy in Prado

They have been way underpowered for so long.

The 2.2 diesel in the Hyundai / Kia trumped them up until very recently.

I guess when you are clearly the market leader no point trying to fix what ain't broken.

Yet they torque limit the manual to 420nm, when the auto has 500.

The dish wheels on one of the models are a dead ringer for the PXII XLT wheels. Nearly identical.

My mates current model SR5 has the most rigid suspension that combined with the terrible hands free microphone they have make it impossible to talk on bumpy roads.
the better suspension was a must, the Torque now brings it up to spec and the towing upped to 3500kg inline with the others (I still think that's an absurd amount to tow with a towball)
The competition has given Hilux a kick in the pants - it still needs more improvements for the vehicle which is our best seller??

Because Australia loves the slow wheezy Thailux.

I've only ever worked on 3x 1GRFE Hilux before, there wasn't that many sold they go alright and they're not too bad on fuel on the highway, easy to work on too.

As above nobody buys them in petrol.

You get the odd rant on this forum from somebody disjointed they cant get their twin cab in a quicker petrol, some even want a V8?

But reality says nobody would buy it. these things are designed for work not play.

The game has moved on from the 4L Hilux. If Ford offered us the 2.3 Ecoboost like the US Ranger, I'd be all over it. There is a growing interest in petrol 4x4s. People are over Dpfs, EGRs, adblue and $1200 injectors.

The rumoured hybrid sounds even better again... 270kW and 680Nm and 3L/100km.

The 2.8 will look anaemic again pretty soon anyway. Toyota always playing catch up.

It’s still 7kw down on an engine with 0.8 litres less capacity.

My dad (in Melbourne) got one in 2007 for his business. Still has it. I took it off-raiding when I was there two months ago. It’s got 330,000km now and still drives like it did the day he bought it. All that being said, I think the engine choices in the next gen Ranger sound a lot more exciting.

Apparently the all new Hilux and V6 diesel is not here until about 2023.
If that's true then Ford needs to hustle with the NG V6 Diesel Ranger

When is that due? All the talk was late this year or early next year but lately it sounds more like late 21 or more likely 2022.

Why does a ferrari need 500kw?

Well most intelligent people drive and tow to the abilities of the tow vehicle,there is probably nothing that makes 200+ kw any better than 120 kw does

I never raced my GT Falcon but I sure loved feeding it on freeway on ramps. If I could buy a 300kw dual cab I would. Love the practicality of them just hate how slow they are. One day.

I’d rather more power than less. Driving slow cars and willing them to over take and them having no power is the pits.

They still manage to have the highest average speed of all vehicles on the road. Even with one of the lowest power to weight ratios and worst handling

In the process of selling our 4th Hilux now. Don't like the wheels on the new one. Going to test drive the new 2.0 Bi Turbo Ranger. Going to be hard to change from the Hilux thou as none of them have given an ounce of trouble, $170 capped service and resale value has always been so good............

Ridiculous pricing? Other factors? VW and Merc reliability? Parts and service availability? Depreciation? I can’t imagine if all else is equal, someone is going to want a gutless engine unless they are a complete nut job.
