I'm considering buying a portable tyre changer but I'm unsure if they are any good.
Something like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121308090...84.m1438.l2649 Supercheap and Radum also sell them for around $100 which seems reasonable seeing as my local tyre shop charges $20 to strip a tyre from a rim. My questions are:how durable are they?Some look like they might break after the first use. How "portable" are they as they look like they need to be bolted to the floor? Does anyone own one or know anything about them? __________________

Looks like a lot of hard work. My tyre bloke charges 20 to strip one off and put it on and balance it on another wheels

Mods : BMC air filter, 1500cc injectors, Walbro 485, 58mm kpm snout, kpm intercooler, 35% front and 20% rear tint, pedders supercar coilovers, whiteline sway bars, Phillips HIDs, lenso d1r wheels. 331rwkw. 12.7 sec stock as a rock with a passenger. Now with 620rwhp ready to run the 10 built zf, built tailshaft, corn juice all to come. The old rig: 2008 FG XR8 Auto in dash green with a tonne of mods to make 311rwkw. |

Yes,steel rims is all I would use it for.I have seen video on You Tube of blokes using them and they are not being gentle.

not portable has to be dyna bolted to the floor, they do work well tho

They can be bolted to a pallet; that's what I did after seeing the same idea on a You Tube video.

They normally have a electric one mounted to a trailer at power cruise events.
