Default QLD- beautiful one day, perfect the next!!

little bit of water falling out of the sky at the moment. up here on holidays at the moment and luckily the week i've just spent at maroochydore was great weather but the rain hit the day before i came back to brissie. took 4hrs to get to the folks place in parkinson. got stuck on the bruce hwy just before caboolture for almost 2hrs.

i used to live up here 15yrs ago so i'm familiar with the types of storms but compared to adelaide, where i live now, this is something you never see. we'd be lucky to get 300mm in 5 yrs, let alone 24hrs.

while i'm up here i've also noticed speed limits are for tourists.

I spent yesterday digging trenches in the pouring rain as my downstairs renovations started to resemble a river. These pics are of Kedron Brook which is normally a couple of metres wide where these were taken. One spot, my guess would have been about 60m wide and 5-7m deep.

Yep sure has been wet. Up here on the Coast we got 392mm in 26hrs then it took a bit of a break for 9hrs then down come another 183mm in 7hrs.

So over 42hrs we got hit with 575mm and it only let up in the middle somwhere for 9 hrs. That's nearly 2foot of rain in 2 days and that is indeed impressive and insane.
No wonder the Bruce hyw was cut notrthbound still this morning around the Berrburrum reagion.

Bloody Hell.

We had some rain in Sydney over the last couple of days, but that is insane. Is it still raining up there now?

Now for the crucial question - did your dams cop any of this? I'd hate to see all of that rain go out to sea.

I think they said it was up to about 72% and they are predicting the dams could reach up to 80% as the water will still be flowing through in the next 5-6 days (thats an average of all the dams)

What? I would have thought it's from the Global Financial Crisis, seems everthing that goes wrong or not to plan is blamed on this ATM!
