Saw the ad on T.V over Xmas so dropped into Repco on way home from work tonight.
I got Narva Plus 120's (the brightest they had left in stock) which were $112 normally for.................$45. Goin to fit them tomorrow arvo if we finish work at 2pm hopefully. Any Falcon Drivers with H4 bulbs SHOULD be taking advantage of this sale and upgrading from their standard bulbs to something much much better. |

Hopefully upgrading high beam only with +120% light.
The older, oncoming driver is unlikely to be able to see anything for a few seconds after passing bright low beams on a rural road. Oldies start to loose most of their peripheral vision by the time they turn 60.... Probably doesn't matter much in the city with the street lights and all. I just did my bulb order from powerbulbs - they were offering 25% off with code new25 Paid $33 for a set of phillips +130% H7's and $21 for a set of Long life Osram (OEM) H7's (low beam) Delivery is free. |

The high output ones dont seem to last too long in my experience, so I've just settled on the Philips Headlight Globe - LongLife EcoVision, H4, 60/55W. about $23 each for the H4. I drive mainly in well lit areas so they do me well. And make sure you get your lights adjusted correctly, makes a difference to visibility.
Surprisingly the ones I bought were made in Germany, will see if they last... Moved away from using Narva due to the not so good experience I've had with them, trying philips for longevity now... |

These guys are cheaper again, if you don't mind waiting a week or 2 for delivery.

Not from the one I just came back from.
They had Narva and their own Repco brand which were well priced but probably made by Narva anyway I'll bet. Shame too because I went into specifically to get some Philips Crystal Visions. |

July last year I converted my new Calais V to Philips low beam and have been WA return plus 2 southern NSW and a Townsville trip with no worries so far. Calais has H9 as high beam for which there isn't much of a choice when upgrading. Ended up getting some Korean brand from the USA and they have also given good service so far. There's enough anecdotal evidence to confirm that at least some people have poor life from Philips but tbh my experience is the opposite.

If one is worried about life, look up the Tc and B3 manufacturer numbers.
They will give you how many hours 67% and 97% of bulbs made fail at (for a given bulb design) Generally, the long life (LL) are good for 1000-2000 hours of operation, and are usually OEM for warranty. Wear gloves when installing. I have previously run Phillips +130 for 250+ hours of high beam without failure, using Osram +120's at the moment. I find it simpler then aftermarket driving light upgrades and is satisfactory for Australia's Nanny speed limits. Last edited by 383hq; 29-12-2017 at 12:03 PM. |

I also bought from Powerbulbs and with delivery took a week and about $33 total for Phillips xTreme 130+
I never been a fan of Narva as felt they die too soon where as success and longevity with Phillips and Osram Good sale though

Oh well i got the Narva's for now did'nt know they wer'nt too good.
Bloody hell not the quickest job to change the bulbs! Battery out, airbox out, fricken connectors would'nt come off original bulbs. Had to use internal circlip pliers to force the connectors off the old bulbs. Then the R/H clip fell off the back of the headlight and fell into the bottom of the front stone tray FFS. Only got L/H headlight for tonight. Will pull stone tray off tomorrow and hopefully recover the clip and have another go at fitting R/H bulb. Chat tmrw fella's i'll be on the TX5 No start car tmrw afternoon! |

But for $45, it’s worth a shot, you might find that you like them, I don’t have a problem with the light Narva bulbs produce, I’ve found that they don’t last very long and for the standard price, it’s hard to swallow, at 60% off is definitely a more accurate price ( my opinion )

Happy new year fella's!!!
Ended up dropping into Kilsyth Pick a Part and grabbing a new clip (Put it in my pocket) lol) from one of only 2 Territory's they had up the front. They had a couple of BA Falcons but all the headlights were gone. The other thing i started drooling over was AU series cars (a Fairmont and a Fairlane) both with Tickford XR6VCT engines in them!!!! Those engines can be bought from Pick a Part for about $250 WITH 3 month warranty. Pitty i don't have an AU i could use the VCT engines in. Got to the TX5 shed and pulled the battery back out and took my time fitting the new clip and bulb and even bent the clip a bit with long nose pliers so it will never fall out again. Had to wait until Saturday night to try the new lights down the street and they we're heaps better than the original. Not bad for $45 i reckon.......And i rarely drive at night but i could'nt resist when i saw the add for the sale on T.V. |
