Default removing vct

Does anyone know whats involved in disabling vct, have been advised it can be done, the reason is to install a comp cam that runs with standard ecu from altered performance.the only other cam is jmm dev 5 which requires unichip etc.Are there any negatives in doing this?Am told vct works from 900rpm to 3500rpm,with a good cam this would be below the main power curve so I dont think would loose much if anything by disabling.Any thoughts would be greatly accepted.

Dont disable VCT , make the most of it. Call G&D , they have developed a billet VCT cam or should I say , several VCT cams....

But if you insist on diabling the VCT system , i believe jonbays knows how its done...

Do you realise G&D do a number of VCT cams now? Might be worth a call befor disengaging it (just unplug it at the front of the rocker cover)

The VCT is a bonus to the engine , it's been around for a while but from reading around the web there seems to be alot of interest in the VCT's latelly, only recentlly people have started to realise the potential/advantages that can be had with the VCT , just a matter of incorperating older parts to suit the vct and work to an advantage. Imo keep the vct, cos 'm sure there is only good things to come from now on ;) .. just my 2 cents worth ..

and about 3 years of badgering, questioning, argueing, testing, looking, talking, asking, begging and generally looking at every single option and avenue to make it a serious car rather than the "unmoddable grandpa's car" it used to be labeled with.

Trust me, there has been a LOT of pain involved in getting the VCT taken serious.

your car will be down right scary when it begins to breathe properly.

You know the next step is forced induction.

I think the grandpa quote has allways come from (imo) that the vct is that tadd smoother ride because of everything being so spot on because of the vct , but really anyone (alot of people nowerdays starting to realise who have read what it actually does) with a bit of understanding how it truely works to an advantage can see that it has way more potential than grandpa status ..lol .. getting the vct to work with some different/modded cams/intake/outlet could have some really great outcomes imo, a real bonus to with a supercharger or more so a turbo imo !

you wish Drew! The plan is to beat those 8's at what they think is their own game, and dont want the old "oh,you only got me cause it's blown" excuse. All 6 drivers know that 8's are over weight, under powered and turn like a shopping trolley on drugs.

lol , i couldnt care if a 8 owner says you bet them because its blown , if its blown - its blown , so what , they have 2 extra cylinders to start with so u could say the blowing the 6 sorta evens out to the extra 2 cylinders the 8 , allthough i'de rather the blown 6 than a straight 8 ! . Im sure those 2 pistons , extra rings , conrods , valves , extra engine block size etc etc all weighs more than the blower , so who is really getting more power/performance bang for buck ?!!!

lol , you love stiring the sh1te pot dont ya JC . :hihi: _2: , but ya right though , in the range of a fully worked 6 compared to a fully worked 8 in the case of both being in the body of an AU anyways , equal car body weight then the 8 is gonna slam the 6 no doubt - dont need to explain why ! ..lol , i 'think' i got over 8's years ago now i'm getting older and lost my licence enuff in the past and lucky im still alive after some scenes ! - but i get a bit of a buzz these days with the capabilities of the 6 with the mods available nowerdays , imo most fully worked 6's have enough grunt to give you a scare these days , gotta admit i still love the note the good old v8 gives off ;) . Im personally curious to how hard i can get my I6 to go before it drops it guts , supercharging it is not an option , its definate gonna happen soon, along with a tonn of other mods to help peak its guts out ..lol :the_finge
