Question Year range for car categories

What year/date range applies to the following categories of cars?

Vintage, Historic, Classic, Contemporary, Modern and any others that I have missed.,, I have looked at the categories on here but cannot find date/year ranges.

Also is it the same worldwide. Example: Would the year/date range for a classic car in Australia be the same for a classic car in Europe?

I am helping my son with a school assignment on the automotive industry and he would like to add this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Coll

No worries Yeti.

I have searched google and even when I looked at "Classic" the years seemed to vary so much in range depending on what site you go too.

Doesn't it go in 25 year lots.
Classic over 25
Historic over 50
Vintage over 75.......
I may very well be wrong but.

That is why I asked the question. I thought it went on a rule of some sort but depending on where I went on the web, I got a stack of different answers. Very confusing!

This will teach me for trying to help on a Year 8 assignment!

just to add to your confusion ; for modified cars i think that its commonly broken into

pre 1948 = hot rod
post 1948 = street machine.
