According to the article, those business owners who are at risk of bankruptcy ditch their luxury cars on the side of the road near the airport for a one way ticket out of town to avoid jail time. The UAE do not have bankruptcy laws so it means if you cannot pay debts, you are jailed. The cars which sit abandoned for a period of time are then auctioned for a fraction of the purchase price. This is good way to pick up a bargain.

Here's a negative one too.
Why is it that everytime I have seen a GTR on tv being raced against cars that have slower claimed acceleration times, like the 911 Turbo S for example, it gets smashed. Nissan's testing must be downhill. Why would you dump an Enzo? Is a taxi to povvo? |

Im sure you dont even need a porche turbo s to be quicker. Factory quoted times are the last thing on my mind when Im cruising in it. At least Im not wishing I owned a cult classic.:

A lot of cars get abandoned here also, but because it is not a high end car it's not news.
Heaps of students and working tourist will just dump a car in a car park, when they go back home. |

Fixed the broken link for you UK, but that page just mentions Car shows and Swap meets along with a few Adverts.

I thought it was found most of these cars were just sitting there when a sandstorm went through? And the abandoned exotics was just an urban myth.
