Default Hiss when off the break.

Hi

I have noticed a hissing (white noise) that I can hear from the cab of my MA TDCi. It is always there until you use the break where it will quickly peter out to silence. As soon as you lift the break there it is again. I can't hear it from outside or under the hood probably because of engine noise.

Does anyone have any ideas?
Do these things use vacuum tubes for anything?
Breaking performance seems to be fine.

Thanks
Nev

Could be something like the pads rubbing on the disks when in motion?? Have you tried applying brake lube or anti squeal?

The hiss starts the instant that I release the brake and does not change tone. It is also still there if the car in in Park. So unfortunately nothing to do with the rotation. Also, I can be braking to a stop and it peters out even though I am still rolling...
Thanks for suggestion though.

Could be a vacuum leak on the booster if that is the area.Is the brake pedal hard at all?

I would run with a vacuum leak. Have a listen under the bonnet with the motor running and see if you can hear it.
