do you have a chip at all???

mine idled rather high after getting it tuned... i was told the power steering pressure switch was faulty. i replaced that, and it was a little better... my idle speed control motor was also playing up, and it sorted it out...

check for air leaks...if anything, a worked e-series with a stock computer should stall and idle low, not the other way around...

yeah ill second that. check you MAP sensor lines (do els have map sensors lol?) and also check the condition of the vacume gauge that leads into the rocker cover. there is another hose that goes into the back of the rocker cover (check that too)

yes they have MAP sensors.

thats what you get for buying a cam that doesn't run on a standard chip ;)

Plenty of cams out there that run on standard ECU's, Alted, JMM for example.

I6 ECU's don't tolerate mild+ cam's very well as there's just not enough MAP value parameters for the stock ECU to use. A way around this might be to upgrade to an XR6 ECU unless of course you're running a Fairmont Ghia with speed sensitive power steering because that is built into the stock Ghia ECU.

Chip or aftermarket ecu, no other choice.

You can fit a chip but mine did bugger all to help and they fu%$ed around for ages trying to fix it too. (damn chiptorque the chips a dunger). They don't really have a clue and its a shame we have to deal with clowns that will actually let a car leave like that. They have no pride in their work, my A/C has never worked since and the car seemed to have lost power with the HP4 chip. I wouldn't let them take your money. Flasher systems will soon be available for the E-series, which will be far superior to any chip for only a little more money. The main thing that buggers the idle is the ICV amplifying the lope of the cam. It can also seem like a sticky throttle. I fitted an aluminium plate under the ICV with smaller holes than usual and it now works fine.
