Default Gday Fellas

hey wats goin on. I'm 17 going on 18. And im interested in buying a ford of course. I have a few in mind but im not sure. practically what i want is a car that looks good to get the ladies and turn heads...aswell as have balls to beat those fuken commodores across the line. Id like a real pwerful car. Problem is i only have 7-10 g's to spend. Here are two cars im looking at. Please dont buy them on me.

First CAR:(A)

http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2738757&cur rent_rec=273&used_rec=570&total_rec=762&sort_type= &total_rec=762&sort_type=&price_min=5000&price_max =10000&state_id=7&search_distance=500&cs_trans_id= 1&cylinder_num=6

That car looks real good but i have been told has no balls. I really like the look though.

Then theres this car: CAR (B)
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2720228&cur rent_rec=5&used_rec=2&total_rec=6&sort_type=&total _rec=6&sort_type=&make_id=6&model_id=17&badge_id=6 7&state_id=7&search_distance=25

That is pwerful and looks good. Problem is its 13 g's and ive been told its not worth it. And i only have around 10.

Last one is this: CAR (C)
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2933527&cur rent_rec=2&used_rec=14&total_rec=15&sort_type=&tot al_rec=15&sort_type=&make_id=6&model_id=17&badge_i d=124&state_id=7&search_distance=25

Pretty standard and doesnt look real flash. But ive been told when moded. It can fly and look good.
I really dont know a great deal about moding or how much. I was told to visit morrow motors or something in melbourne because they have greta deals.

I really need help. You can redirect me to a whgole new car if you like im interested in all fords.

imo , no.1 sounds ok but maybe a bit pricey too for what it is , no.2. sounds nice but a bit pricey for the year/model , no.3. sound not to bad at all for what it is - but depends if u want a car that old .. this is just my opinion based off what i've seen as i shopped around a while be4 buying mine , and i managed to get a AUII XR6 VCT 2000 model in imaculate condition for $10,000 ... in the end its up to you but make sure you have a real good look around be4 you buy , i have seen some really cheap AUII xr's since buying mine too ! .. ;) gl

Dave, this is the AU section. I'll move this to the E Series section, they will point you in the right direction and have a heap of good guys that know these models backwards.

Good luck with your purchase.

I just had a quick look at those 3 cars, they're all gonna be as powerful as each other. They all have pretty much the same engine. If you want chicks forget about buying a Ford :P They all like Commodores ;) If I was you I'd buy a nice clean EF Futura or something, try and get a manual if you can then you will have a perfect platform to start your mods as well as money left over. Just do a search of the forums to find out everything you can do to make it quicker....Maybe with the left over money you could get some 3.9 diff gears, an exhaust and a cam and you will have a car that will beat 5lt Commodores.

Why not matey? If anything manual is far better for driveability and gaining skill, and more control with the car.

Plus its fun !!!

Manual...you drive the car.
Auto...the car drives YOU!

...my cars driving me atm :P dammit

EL XR6 manual with a crow cam extractors and a 2.5 lowered wide tyres leads pod and your looking at a pritty nice ride IMO or get a EF-EL Fairmont with the XR6 motor and do a manual convertion but what ever you do get a manual

Dave, just checked out that link. Nice looking car & probably not bad value at around $7k (I probably wouldn't pay that but remember I am not in love with it as you are). At 17, that car will have plenty of go for you & your skills but will not blow away any 5.0 ltr Commonwhores. Its a big purchase, probably the biggest you'll make for a couple of years so the value you place on the car is important. The importance of price lessens depending on how long you plan to keep the car and how much you will get out of owning it. It looks great, will probably out do most comparable cars on the road through the twisty stuff. I've had 4 e-series cars and they have all been great.
If you love it, buy it - just make a plan before you start to deal and keep a cool head. Years of buying & selling have taught me that there's always another one for sale next week!

ps - if you get it wrong by $500 - $1000 it isn't the worst thing that could happen to you at your age!

Thanks, Can i just sya one thing. Your all a bunch of mad ИИИИs i mean really top blokes. Love ford like i do. And some day ill get my Xr8..someday. Theres only 2 last question i have for yas. 1.How much is a 5.0ltr commodore(i dont want one trust me) just want to know how much. And could i mod my El Xr6 falcon to beat most commodores...and how much we talking to make this car more powerful. I love the look, i just want the balls!. I called the guy who ownes it and said ill pay 7 for it. He said hell have a think and ill call a coupple days...i think hell give it to me for 7. So please tell me both these things fellas. And i cant say how much i appreciate ya all, if i copuld id take you all down to the pub for free pots.

5.0ltr Commy's will start from about $1500 for a ИИИИty VN Auto & go up from there. A clean VS can still set some fool back $13k. Don't forget that the car you are looking at isn't an XR6, it's a stock Falcon (running gear). The guy's who suggested throwing a manual at it have given good advice along with the other standard mods for you. Get a manual & some headers and you'll be able to hold your own against stock 5.0ltr Auto Commy's, ie - win some, lose some depending on the day and how many passengers he has!
