Default January motor: what happened to the pro holden bias?

I just received my Jan '07 MOTOR with the PCOTY results.

My copy is faulty. It shows the GTS & SSV being beaten by Fords.
Not only does it show the GTS being beaten by TWO XR6Ts and the F6 but ALSO by the SSV.

Surely this is not the actions of a totally pro holden biased magazine.

Surely the GTS must beat all of these.....or did HSV slip up and send a standard as delivered to customers one......

And my favorite bit of all:

F6 0-100 km/h 5.6.
GTS 0-100 km/h 5.5 (I thought they were 5.0 in the brochure?)

F6 0-400m 13.7 @ 173.3 km/h
GTS 0-400m 13.7 @ 170.7 km/h (Must have left the spare tyre, seats and whatever in it)

F6 0-1000m 24.5 @ 223.1 km/h
GTS 0-1000m 24.6 @ 218.4 km/h

F6, bottom of the range FPV, $60k
GTS, top of the range HSV, $80k

Got to be rigged.........

/me sits and waits for slick troll's reply

Flappist - you have finally smoked too much crack. There is no way a Ford can beat a Holden in any Australian Magazine. Go and check yourself into rehab buddy, all the best - drop back in when an F6 is getting beaten by a Viva.

Motor not bagging Ford?

I'd say your copy is definately faulty. Take it back to the dealer and have it replaced under warranty.

Bloody hell the RS4 took it! That Audi is the most under-rated, most oblivious, psychotic performance sleeper car out there.

Interesting the M3 didnt get a run.

A lot of the Holden hoo-ha is just bandwagon stuff. Like the Boxing Day Test. Like the Sydney Swans.

Despite the VT being some great car, the EL was better in many areas, especially safety. But people don't want to know about that.

I told some "Holden fans" that the Commodore wasn't Australian designed until the 2006 released VE whereas the Falcon has been uniquely Australian for almost 25 years.

But nobody wants to hear that.

Good result for Ford. Ford has true pedigree.
Just a lazy marketing department.

OMG look how far down the GTS is, thats unreal!

I started that other thread, firstly, I was talking about Wheels. Motor, while not the best journalism but seems to tell it as it is a bit more than Wheels.

Also, my gripe with wheels was the additional bonus' and such, not the content.

Anyway, good results, perhaps ford should just drop the V8 again..LOL

RS4 deserving winner, and such a desirable piece of machinery. Truly, insanely desirable. Like an automotive Jennifer Hawkins. If I had one I'd ... ..... ok maybe I'll take this offline for a few moments!

Interesting to see how well the Golf GTI did too, beat both the XR6T's. This could only mean one thing - Motor has a bias toward VW! :

Oh and good to see that the MANUAL XR6T was rated higher, and that they felt the need to have auto and manual there again. :monkes:

just pinched these from LS1 (If lap times are one of your criteria then Ford really have to get a wriggle on):

9th: F6 Typhoon Auto
0-100 km/h: 5.6 sec
0-400 m: 13.7 @ 173.3 km/h
0-1000m: 24.5 @ 223.1 km/h
Winton Lap time: 1.43.32

14th: SS-V Manual
0-100 km/h: 5.7 sec
0-400 m: 13.9 @ 168.1 km/h
0-1000m: 24.8 @ 218.6 km/h
Winton Lap time: 1.43.56

16th: XR6 Turbo Manual
0-100 km/h: 6.0 sec
0-400 m: 14.3 @ 165.6 km/h
0-1000m: 25.6 @ 213.7 km/h
Winton Lap time: 1.43.62

17th: XR6 Turbo Auto
0-100 km/h: 6.2 sec
0-400 m: 14.2 @ 167.1 km/h
0-1000m: 25.3 @ 217.1 km/h
Winton Lap time: 1.44.47

18th: GTS Auto
0-100 km/h: 5.5 sec
0-400 m: 13.7 @ 170.7 km/h
0-1000m: 24.6 @ 218.4 km/h
Winton Lap time: 1.40.00

Winton lap times:
Lotus Exige S - 1.37.46

BMW M5 - 1.41.15

BMW M6 - 1.39.31

Evo IX - 1.40.18

Porsche Cayman S - 1.40.00

BMW Z4 - 1.39.84

911 Turbo - 1.36.38

Audi RS4 - 1.41.12

...And the fastest car of them all?

2nd: 911 Turbo Manual
0-100 km/h: 3.6 sec
0-400 m: 11.6 @ 194.6 km/h
0-1000m: 21.3 @ 248.4 km/h
Winton Lap time: 1.36.38

What !!

Are you telling me that the GTS with its brand new soopa doopa magnetic suspension (just like Ferrari), ESP, soopa doopa 365mm brakes and 20" Potenza RE050A (275 on rear) is quicker round the "hills hoist" than the F6 with std brakes, no DSC and 19" Dunlop SP Sport 9000s?

Again, I am SURE I must have got the "non holden" copy of the mag because mine reckons that the GTS did 1:42.00 not 1:40.00.

The longish straights bring the big-engined cars back in to the picture a bit. It is really too tight for the V8 supercars. In my buzz box I hit around 160/165kmh (well in to 4th gear) on the front straight before the esses where the HRT car hits 220 and I am in 4th in the sweeper and thinking about it near the end of the other straights.

works out as everage speed
Porsche TT:112kmh
Lotus:111kmh
GTS auto:108kmh
F6 auto: 104.5kmh
Xr6t auto: 103kmh

A diiferent day to the Aus only PCOTY earlier in the year and all of the turbo Fords lap times are about 1.3 to 1.4 secs quicker!!

edit: Damn! I just realized that the Typhoon beat my previous best time (on R spec tyres) around there. Well there go my bragging rights…

275/20 Potenza! What are they worth? What's magnetic suspension? How come the SSV did so well?
