Default My New XR8!

Here she is! :

I haven't got before and after shots, but since I picked her up I've added: headlight covers, chrome mirror scalps and clear side repeaters.

2000 model, 114,000kms, manual trans, leather interior, premium sound, lowered slightly, cat back exhaust.

Next on the list is a window tint, twin pipe exhaust tip, AU2 XR bodykit. On the performance side of things: extractors, intake, and engine management.

What an amazing car! Incredible BFYB! Comfortable, powerful, looks mean (but doesnt drive mean, unless you want it to!) Great interior (love the little touches like roof mounted sunglass holder with airplane style courtesy lights and cup holders in the backseat flip down armrest) [I'll never use them but a good idea nonetheless] The interior is all class in full black with leather.

She's a great tourer, with enough poke and agility for when you want to have some fun!

Cheers, Rob.

Very nice. The chrome mirror scalps look good with the silver. XR50 kit would also look good in silver.

Nice, i thought you were after a 220 though?

Yeah originally I was looking for an xr8 with the 220 motor, but I came across this car, and the price and kms were too good to pass up. Shouldnt be too hard to find those pesky 20kws down the track. :evil3:

Thanks GlennBA, we're pretty stoked with her!

If anyone has a lead on a well priced 2nd hand AU2 Tickford kit, let us know we'd be very appreciative!

Car looks fantastic mate! Congratulations! I'm glad mine isn't the only XR that is missing it's front pods but to quote myself from another thread...

I reckon the AU2 Rebel kit looks pretty good as well. The rear bar is less rounded making the rear look fatter.

Thanks Peuty.

lol 'cos it goes fast'.

She drives so nice Im not fussed about the kit atm, but the mrs is pretty keen on getting one, ill just have to let her twist my arm!

What I dont like on the Rebel kit is the fact you lose the top 3/4 of the original bumper skin, which I like the design of. The bottom of the Tickford skirt also looks more like a racing diffuser and Ive always had a thing for silver au2 xrs with the Ticky kit.

Yep fair enough call mate! At the end of the day it's a nice V8 Falcon which looks good and drives great so you win both ways!

great color. Mine is 200kw and it has good enough grunt .I had a 240kw Caprice Gen 3 and this is just as good. I read a long time ago the 200kw was the motor to get. Just a opinion , others will disagree . I would think its hard to tell 20kw either way.

AU3 bumper for 400 is a bit of a rip, for not much more I can get the whole Tickford au2 kit!

She was pretty filthy when I picked her up, but under the dust/dirt everything was in great condition. Once I cleaned her up it was well and truly a case of-jackpot! :

I'm just getting the hang of wrangling the 200kw and its plenty for me. How will I look back on that comment in 6 months...

Just got the Hankooks put on the XR8 and wow! Instant difference, instantly felt at home. Theyre not as comfy as the Dunlops (the front two Dunlops were brand spankers) but the grip/confidence level is incredible. She now truly feels like 'my' car.

I'm off to give her a run on the freeway...

Cheers, Rob.
