do you have ABS... if it has bendix written on it the its the ABS computer. if it doesnt have bendix on it, then its the Smartlock computer.

The blue one is the BEM.

Actually, for smartlock in EF/ELs, the GLi have grey boxes, Mid series EFs have a red box, ELs have a blue box, and for high series EFs and ELs have green boxes.

No BEM used on EB's. Red box is actually Smartlock module.

You may be right although I did say that EB s does not have one. My Ford Repair manual makes no referance to it either?

Why would an EA have one and an EB not? I'm pretty sure that the only addition was the SmartLock module, right? It is possible that Smartlock is integrated into the BEM and is therefore considered the Smartlock module in your manual, but I am realy only speculating. :p

For this particular car the blue box is the bem. Different models have different coloured boxes due to the difference in features for the model = i think as wayne mentioned a green one is higher models= controls stuff like dimming lights.

It's not called a BEM on these models, it's a Central Controller Unit.

madnc is right who cares about the name, the module does exactly the same thing, anyway the ECU is really called a PCM (powertrain control module) but no one calls it that except for ford technicians
