Default BA brakes in ED

Just picked up my car from getting BA brake conversion, WOW does it stop.
Pulls up on a dime!!! Literally!!!
Was very pleased with the work done, not to mention the price ( $1550). I think
its the best thing you can do brakes on an ED

That's very cool. What's involved in doing the conversion? Is it using BA hubs and BA discs? Or is it just the BA callipers, and discs to suit ED but same size as BA?

I would be very interested in knowing what's involved here, seeing I did the BA on AU1 upgrade, but that involved new stub axle, lower wishbone etc.

Uses modified uprights to suit BA calipers and 330mm front disc same as EL Gt..

Thats about it!!

Kits can be had from $1100 up if ya look for them.. There is even a 6 piston 343mm upgrade available..

correct MAD NC but you can buy a hub to convert to hat type rotor.

2x twin piston calipers
2x 330mm slotted rotors
1x set of performance pads
2x braided brake lines
2x ford 114.3 x 5 hub
1x set wheel bearing kit
2x cnc billet machined steel brackets
1x set high tensile bolt kit
2x modifed e-series uprights to suit (swap over)
Note: To be ADR approved shortly

This is wat i have been quoted for $1100 minus fitting which i can do myself..

do you have any good pics of the modified uprights? do the caliper mounts bolt up to the uprights in the same holes as the old calipers?

Guys name is Richard at Advanced Performance Vehicles.. I also am begining to suspect he is Mr-Spares on eBay.. I have a booklet on all the kits he does which he gave me at the Albury Autofest..

Last time i spoke to him he said he was hoping to have ADR approval by mothers day..

whats the chances 2 randoms are both finally developing such a kit and getting ADR approval at similar times, when the parts to do this have been around for so long now

330mm will still fit some 15" rims over them.. depends a lot on design of the rim and the caliper setup..

can anyone confirm exactly who is selling this and any sort of price for just the modified uprights and brackets needed to fit the calipers?? wasnt cmywpn selling or fitting a kit like this but got banned or something?

yeah he was, aparently when asked about any kind of warranty, he went off his nana, which is why he was banned, not because he isnt a site sponsor as was believed by some.
MR Spares off ebay is about to release his fully ADR compliant, Engineered kit, so that would be the best source....his pricing is aparently from 970 or similar for his entry kit, and around 1400 for his BA XR6T/XR8 type setup.
though he told me he'd sell me the hubs and brake lines for 370, and i mod my own uprights...(theres very little that needs to be done which is why im even contemplating it - just the ears the brake pads sit against on the uprights need to be removed to allow the larger rotors - they're redundant with the 2 piston calipers anyway as the caliper holds the pads in position)

but yeah, as i said, MR Spares on ebay would be the best contact

i think you mean BF xr6t xr8 setup, which is just territory brake spec. so if you wanna upgrade just go get som territory calipers.

And what are the hubs you speak of? are they a sealed type hub and bearing that allows fitment of ba/ au style dry rotors? You say that all that needs to be done is remove the ears.. but you would obviously need to drill and tap holes in the uprights as they have no provision for bolts. this is why you need much bigger bolts with these calipers as they actually support the weight and resist the caliper just being spun around, with our cars the pad is supported by those ears.

no, i mean what i said....BA XR brakes are a massive improvement over the eseries single piston caliper setup, and will still allow 16" wheels for those that need to...(ED Sprint owners come to mind)

im told the only difference between regular eseries uprights and the EL GT ones is the deletion of those ears.... they are redundant when running the ba calipers

the ba caliper is a floating caliper which obviously has the metal bracket, which aparently mounts to the uprights in the same way as the regular caliper......
the hub i speak of is machined up by mr spares @ competition engineering, its the same as a ba one EXCEPT it is to fit the Eseries stub axle, and yes, a stock BA rotor will go on it.

im only going off what ive been told, why not send him an email.
