Default AV TX5 Ignition Advance

Hi all,
Can someone please tell me if I am standing in front of the engine bay of my TX5 and I spin the top of the distributor away from myself is that advancing my ignition timing. This is what I did and I ended up loosing power even though im running 98 ron fuel. There is no pinging either so all I am left to belive is I have spun the distributor the wrong way.
Thanks.

if the firing order is 1342

put the motor back on TDC for number one cyl
remove the dissy cap and see where the rotor is pointing

from your description bring the dissy towards you to increase engine revs

what happened to the arrow on the dissy body doesnt yours have one

most bosch dissys do have

Thanks mate, I just got a timing light and put it back to standard. Too much mucking around for such little gain.
