Default Always change rotors with pads? LW ST

Hey everyone

Local Ford dealer is telling me that whilst I have a few thousand ks left in my rear pads, if I change them, I need to change the rotors as well?

I've never heard of changing rotors unless they are damaged by low pads or they're warped etc.

Is this true or are they taking the ****? Apparently the ST rotors can't be machined as they would then be too thin? They've never been machined before, car has done 65000ks.

Thanks!

Certainly not always. Only if there is an issue with them.

If they need replacing, then yes, replace them together.

I have had a Stealership tell me the rotors needed replacing because there was a lip where the pad didn't run.

When asked why the rotor needs replacing if the pad doesn't run there, he had no answer !

Yeah that's what they said to me.

That the pads create a lip at the top and bottom. And new pads will only press against the lip as a result, reducing braking capability.

I've never replaced rotors for the sake of it. Just seems like a waste?

Put new pads on my old ST with about 70k odd kms never replaced discs. Rears were needing to be done soon though.
